Compact, lightweight, and close-focusing, the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM is a sleek normal-length prime offering a classic, versatile field of view and an especially compact design. An ideal lens for every day, walkaround shooting, this 50mm f/1.8 is characterized by its bright design for available light shooting and apt depth of field control. The optical design incorporates one aspherical element, which reduces spherical aberrations and distortion, and also sports a Super Spectra coating to minimize flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. Also, an STM motor affords impressively quiet and smooth autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a configurable Control Ring lets you adjust exposure settings, including ISO, aperture, and exposure compensation, from the lens itself.

Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Reviews
Great little lens for great price
I've only tried it indoors so far, but I like what I see. Plus it's so light I don't even know it's in the bag. Hoping for some nice street shots soon!
Not Expensive but it is Sharp.
It is not an L lens but for its size, weight, and price it performs very well. The AF noise some people complaint about is not that prominent. Actually after using it for quit a while it does not affect photographing at all. It is a great lens to carry, fits in any pocket, Too bad the lens does not come with a hood, it seems it is a Canon thing. Highly recommended, works well with the Canon R, R6, and R5.
the perfect lens for it's use case
The saying goes: the best camera is the one that's on you this lens does just that, it makes your RF mount camera be on you more of the time. is it the most spectacular optics and build quality? no. but it's worth what you pay for it, every penny of it, and if it'll make your camera be on you more, it might be the best lens you'll ever get.
Like the titles says this lens is great and has crystal clear quality photos great for portraits.
Excellent lens - works smoothly and has a very fast focus with my Canon RP. I like having the additional ring for camera settings as well - nicely placed.
Nifty Fifty - just what you need
I have my DSLR version and got this to go with my new R7. I love it. This is a no brainer lens to have in your kit. Great all-rounder.
Okayish as a starter kit
Bought this as a first kit for R6. Zoom is a bit on a slower end. It's light, almost like there is no weight, when you handle it you can hear like it's a hollow plastic, strange feeling for someone that has just recently used only film cameras that are solid metal and you can feel the robust quality. Picture quality is great for a beginner like me. It would make a good travel lens since it doesn't protrude that much beyond camera handle. It's an all rounder, and for this price is a good choice. Bokeh is great.
Much better than the EF version
Very happy with this lens. Very solid feel and picture quality is very sharp for the price. Much better than my former EF version.
