Compact, lightweight, and close-focusing, the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM is a sleek normal-length prime offering a classic, versatile field of view and an especially compact design. An ideal lens for every day, walkaround shooting, this 50mm f/1.8 is characterized by its bright design for available light shooting and apt depth of field control. The optical design incorporates one aspherical element, which reduces spherical aberrations and distortion, and also sports a Super Spectra coating to minimize flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. Also, an STM motor affords impressively quiet and smooth autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a configurable Control Ring lets you adjust exposure settings, including ISO, aperture, and exposure compensation, from the lens itself.
- RF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format

Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Reviews
Just like the EF version only better
Just like the EF version only its been updated with metal connector. Great image quality and can't beat the price. Everyone needs a nifty 50
Great
For the price you can't beat it. Great lens all around
The new nifty fifty
As much as I prefer USM to STM, it's still in my mind a critical lens to add to any kit. It's just as good as previous versions, and in many ways better (metal mount, solid construction).
INCREDIBLE
Everyone loves the pictures this lens takes. Honestly for the price it outperforms and achieves great photos and video. Must buy.
It's okay
If I could go back in time, I would tell myself not to buy the lens again. I bought it as something lightweight and compact for on the go. I'm used to using L lenses but with the RF line they are sooooo large and heavy so I gave this a shot. It focuses slow (painfully slow if you are used to L lenses) and isn't as sharp. But it is lightweight and compact so I'll probably keep it around for use on my backup camera body.
The Nifty Fifty is the perfect addition to my bag!
This Canon RF 50mm has been wonderful to use, especially at its price point. The autofocus can be a bit slow compared to a typical L lens, but the photos are sharp and look beautiful!
Beautiful Images
The quality of images is great. The shallow depth of field and sharpness are great.
A Must for Everyday Shooting
Easy way to get great everyday photos at a reasonable price. Portable, impressive, and reliable!
