Designed for cine-style image capture, UHD 8K ready, and covering up to full-frame size sensors, the 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 Cine Lens from IRIX incorporates multiple internal and external design features, and it comes with a Nikon Z mount. External features include a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gears, luminous focus marks in feet, and a detachable 1/4"-20 support foot. Internally, 11 blades produce smooth, rounded bokeh, and five seals protect against inclement weather and dust.
To help eliminate aberrations and distortion, the 150mm IRIX is constructed with 12 optical elements in nine groups including four HRI (high refractive index) and three ED (extra-low dispersion) elements. This lens has 270° of focus and 75° of iris rotation, an 86mm front filter thread, and includes a lens hood in addition to front and rear caps.

IRIX 150mm T3.0 Macro Cine (ft) Reviews
Bad Lens Cap!
Lens is great. 2 stars to warn you about terrible ROUNDED LENS CAP. These are essentially a wholly defective design. It is a convex front cap, so you cannot put the heavier, wider, front side of the lens down while it's cap is on. Meaning the only way you can place this lens is on any flat surface is by putting it bottom up with the lens mount / back cap down. Just asking for it to fall over. This is the most terrible design. IRIX quickly saw the error of their ways, went for a standard flat cap like literally every other lens I have ever seen. If you go to their website, you'll see the lenses with the replacement flat caps, and the flat caps sold separately. B&H didn't include any photos with a lens cap in the shot, nor any information about which cap was included. So they didn't mislead, they just omitted. But a replacement cap must cost pennies wholesale. Why not just include it when someone buys the $1100 lens... I'm sure once they sell through the old inventory, the new ones will have the proper replacement caps. Until then, might as well buy yourself a replacement cap right now.
Fantastic Cinema Macro Lens
For the price, this lens rocks! If it were three times the price it would still rock! There’s plenty of YouTube video reviews of technical specs, but creatively, I found that this lens gave me a cinematic (subjective, I know), shallow depth of field with crisp focus. Definitely need a focus-puller and stability, but even without the latter, you can pull off some interesting shots. This will be a holy grail lens for product filmmakers, but it’s extremely capable of pulling off some narrative shots. Some test footage: https://vimeo.com/509993097
Create Lens - Super sharp
The image shows a close up of a Lego set using the IRIX 150mm lens. In that picture you can see the small rigs in the gray plastic that is not visible by just looking at it.
Great lens.
I got this lens for high end table top shoots and am very pleased with the quality and the build of the lens. Something I wold normally expect from significantly more expensive cine-macro lenses. It’s a bargen at that price point. The PL mount is a snug fit on my RED DRAGON and the rounded lens cap is a bit of a fail design since you can’t put the lens on its front the way you normally park lens that you don’t want to roll of your desk. But that’s the only downside of it and it didn’t affect the image waltet in any way.
Great Quality & Value
I purchased the IRIX 15mm, 45mm, and 150mm as a set. The image quality is sharp and excellent, the focus and t-stop rings work smoothly and quietly, and the build quality is first class and aesthetically beautiful. I particularly like the water sealing most other brand lenses in this price range do not have. Focus breathing varies between the lenses but minimally and I'm quite happy with them. As other reviewers have mentioned, the curved lens cap is the only disadvantage, preventing positioning any lens face down on a surface with the lens cap on, but that's a minor issue against the superb overall package these lenses provide.
Would buy again
Beautiful image and solid construction, looks great on set of a production
Irix PL mount fix
Irix say they have addressed the issue of the PL mount not fitting some cameras. Here is an article from their website from approx 5 months ago. https://blog.irixusa.com/irix-pl-mounts-you-spoke-we-listened/
Great image for detail shots
Excellent for detail shots. It works as a telephoto lens but focus pull is way to fine beyond a couple of feet away from subject to really rack focus, so I would not recommend using this as a telephoto unless you can fix focus. No complaints as a macro lens though.
