Vienna Symphonic Library Big Bang Orchestra: Fornax is a virtual instrument with a library consisting of unique sounds from three grand pianos mixed with various percussion instruments and played by six musicians performing together in the large hall at Synchron Stage Vienna. The collection allows you to create epic sounds, from mysterious touches to bombastic eruptions, for film and game scoring, trailer music, or sound design.

Fornax includes samples from the company's Steinway D-274, Bösendorfer Imperial, and Yamaha CFX grand pianos combined with plate bells, tubular bells, gongs, pitched and unpitched drums, and more. It offers several set-ups, categorized into Low Range and High Range instruments. Low Range instrument setups offer combinations of three pianos, plate bells, tubular bells, pitched gongs, taikos, timpani, and bass drum. High Range instruments include plate bells, tubular bells, vibraphone, suspended cymbals, gongs, and triangle. Combining instruments from both groups enables you to cover the entire frequency spectrum.

The performers were lined up at three main positions on stage (left, center, right). In addition to overhead microphones, Decca Tree, and surround mics, the instruments were isolated during the recording sessions with close microphones, while being played together in the ensemble. This gives you more control and more creative options when mixing your sound using the included Synchron Player's internal mixer.

The software is compatible with Mac and Windows and operates in AU, VST, and AAX formats. Fornax integrates perfectly with every module in the BBO.
