    Domke Reporter's Satchel reviews

F-802 Reporter's Satchel Shoulder Bag (Sand) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 72.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The perfect walk around bag Use this bag for everyday adventures- anything from pics of the kids at the park to cross country trips. This bag is big enough to fit a full size slr with lens attached and 2 extra lenses in the main compartment but you need the right insert. This bag doesn't come with a padded insert- I found the insert from a Kata DR-467 was perfect, but B&H also sells the Domke one for a relatively low price. The material is awesome- feels like a bag should. The metal latch does require two hands unless you want to risk pinching skin, but it's definitely super sturdy. Overall this is one of the best bags for just about any type of photographer. It has a subtle look that may not attract unwanted attention.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough, roomy and discreet! I own both that 802 and the 803. The 802 is a larger version of the 803. Even though the 802 isn't as discreet as the 803 it still blends in pretty well and has quite a bit more room in it. If you are using large 2.8 zooms I suggest the 802 however if you are not you can get away with the 803. Currently in my 802 are: D3 with 50mm 1.4 mounted, 70-200mm 2.8, 17-35mm 2.8, SB-800, spare batteries and a couple unused pockets to spare. Best of all it doesn't scream camera bag!. Even my friends ask me if I got a new laptop bag. Which is exactly why I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome Bag !!! Just what I needed. It fits all my essential gear and then some. In the main compartment I have two inserts, the FA-220 and the FA-210. The FA-220 fits my 70-200/2.8 and my flash with diffuser and the FA-210 fits my a700+VG with my 18-200/3.5-6.3 on top of it. In the sleeve in front of the main compartment I can fit my 13.5 inch MacBook, but un-padded and a little tight. In the big front pockets I can get the charger for my laptop plus two external hard drives, a card reader and all the wires in one pocket. Leaving the other for things like my air blower and filters. Whatever else I need goes in the zipper pockets on the flap, they're perfect for things like wallets, keys and the all important business cards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from rugged, durable, simple It's made of stout, high-quality canvas that'll last forever and improve with age. Unlike nylon bags, it won't slide out of place but instead stays where you put it. The shoulder strap is comfortably wide and reassuringly strong, and the rubber woven into it keeps the bag on your shoulder. The handle is stitched and riveted to the flap, which also has a stout insert for rigidity. It's well laid out, with pockets large enough to be flexible (they'll hold a Canon 5DMkIII body). The main compartment is perfectly sized for a 15 Macbook in a soft sleeve. There are loose straps and buckles at each end for securely attaching Domke's accessory pouches (like the F-902) or other items. To provide a little more protection, I put a bit of impact foam in the bottoms of the main compartment and the big pockets, and I never have to worry about setting it down. This is a great bag, and I've been very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great briefcase/camera bag I was looking for a slimmer camera bag to travel out of town with, I wound up with one that doubles as my daily briefcase. Perfect size for a 1D and an 80-200 L tucked inside. Lots of pockets for extra gear as well as Domke ruggedness. Buy one, and you'll have a bag that will long outlast a cheap deal. Shooting a lot of equestrian events I wanted something light that would have more than a telephoto for the day, this bag will take my 35 f2 as well as an 85 1.8 tucked in alongside my telephoto.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding!!! This is just one of the best camera bags I have ever owned. The material is top drawer and is quite thick. The stitching and overall build quality is really nice too. That being said, in terms of function, it excels quite nicely.I recommend the Tenba Pro Digital 2 Photo Insert for this bag as this particular bag does not come with any inserts.I fit the following camera/accessories into this bag. It fits like a glove!Nikon D7100 + 18-105mm VR70-300mm VR60mm Nikkor MicroSB600 SpeedflashBattery ChargerManualsPolarizers and other small accessories.Overall, I great solid USA made bag. Much better than any cheap China import out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality, utilitarian, durable, workhorse I'm a student and I use this to carry my laptop and books most days. The bag does great with the weight of a big textbook. I'm also a photography enthusiast and I carry my D80 in it often. The strap is amazing, if you haven't had a Domke strap before, it's hard not to love. The rubber grip thread is great.Pockets on this thing are great. Two giant velcro flap pockets, an inside pocket for your laptop, and an outside pocket that I keep a legal pad in. There are two zipper pockets in the primary flap that are flat and work great for maybe your passport, or memory cards if you have a whole bunch. There's also the main compartment that shouldn't be ignored. I like how it has the durable padding that's just perfectly sufficient for camera/laptop protection in my opinion. This is where you'll likely have to store your SLR if you have a lens on it. Though, I did managed to stuff my D80+50mm f1.8 in the velcro pocket amazingly. I put in the accessory suggestions that you might want the FA-230 insert, this is because stuff in the main compartment will roll around unless you have enough fill in the main compartment. I usually just put a book of the right size there to keep my D80+18-135mm f3.5 from falling over, as I do not have the insert. You might want the insert if you have many lenses and only want to carry your camera and lenses in this bag. Most lenses will fit nicely in the velcro pockets though. This thing handles wear very well. You can tell when you've had it a while, but it's quite a fine aging process. It actually looks good when it's used!Lastly, my laptop is an ultralight so if you're wondering about laptop size issues, I can't help too much with facts. Mine is 12, but in my opinion this bag would probably be able to fit a 17 laptop, anything smaller would definitely fit. Please let me know if you have any questions. This is my first Domke bag and I really think it's great!@

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! This satchel now houses my laptop, and occasionally a D2h with a 50mm lens. Of course it has held up specatcularly, in the 122 degree heat in Baghdad Iraq, where I currently lug all my equipment around. Excellent purchase, and I highly recommend to those who need a great satchel, for use carrying all types of gear.
