This filter helps when shooting black & white images. It increases contrast of the image in camera. Leica does tend to price their equipment higher than most. But they do make great quality product.

Unfortunately, Leica does not list a specific filter number or filter strength for the Leica E49 Yellow Filter. The filter may have a filter factor of 1.5-2, and may remove between 2/3 to 1 stop of light from your lens.
