Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Overview

The Fujinon MK-R 50-135mm T2.9 Cine Zoom Lens is a lightweight cine-style zoom lens for Canon RF mount cameras with a Super35-sized sensor, mirrorless cinema cameras such as the Canon C70, and cinema cameras such as the RED KOMODO. It features a mechanical design with three independent lens control rings: focus, iris, and zoom. Each ring incorporates a cine-style gear with a 0.8 MOD for interfacing with standard cine-style lens accessories. The focus ring features 200° of rotation, which gives room for precise focus pulls, and the iris is clickless, enabling smooth iris pulls. The lens also incorporates a macro mode for close focusing capabilities.

The lens is color-matched to other Fujinon lenses such as the MK, HK, ZK, and XK series, which enables smooth intercutting between lenses. The 85mm front diameter allows use with many cine-style matte boxes via the use of optional step-up rings (rings not included). The lens weighs only 4.4 pounds, which is light for a cinema zoom that holds focus and aperture throughout the focal length range. It is designed for cameras with a Canon RF mount, so it has a short flange focal distance with only minor vignetting at small apertures between 18 and 20mm, but the lens allows flange focal distance adjustment, so you can fine-tune it to the camera using the lens.

T2.9 to T22 aperture with nine iris blades for attractive bokeh
The 28.5mm diameter image circle covers the 3-perf Super35 format with a 16:9 aspect ratio
Industry-standard 0.8 film pitch gears for focus, zoom, and iris control
The gear ring positions for focus, zoom, and iris are located at the same position on lenses in the MK and MK-R series, making switching between the zooms quick as you don't have to adjust the position of lens accessories
Lenses in the MK-R series have the same weight and length, so there is no need to rebalance your camera when you change from one lens to the other
200° focus barrel rotation
No shims are required to adjust the flange focal distance as this lens has a built-in adjustment mechanism
Macro focus function available

Will this lens and its 18-55 counterpart mount on a Sony A7 III?
Asked by: Clarke
Theoretically, yes, as both are the Sony E mounts. However, due to the weight of the MK series lenses, you risk breaking the camera-side mount, unless you have a release plate, hunt cage, or other rig to use a pair of support rods and a lens support bridge (both not included with lens).

The Wooden Camera 2-Stage Clamp-On 4 x 5.65" Zip Box (80-85mm) is a nice option to mount directly to this lens, BH #WO241600. https://bhpho.to/2Aosn5R

What is the equivalent focal length of this lens ...

What is the equivalent focal length of this lens in 35mm terms. Is it 100-270mm or something else?
Asked by: W. Bill
This is going to depend on the size of the sensor you're using, and how the specific camera utilizes that sensor. If you use it on a GH5 (crop factor 2.0), it will be 100-270. If you're using it on a BMPCC4K (crop factor 1.9), it will be approx 95-256. If you use it with a Super 35 sensor, the answer given by Dennis is likely correct. Note that the lens also has built-in flange distance adjustment to accommodate different cameras. If you change the flange distance, you're also effectively changing the crop factor to some degree.
