Megadap MTZ11 Overview

The Leica M Lens to Nikon Z-Mount Autofocus Adapter from Megadap is designed for using a Leica M-mount lens with a Nikon Z-series digital camera. It converts a Leica M-mount manual lens into an AF lens, and the adapter features electronic contacts and utilizes the camera's phase-detection system to determine the focus point. The adapter supports Single Shot AF (AF-S), Continuous AF (AF-C), and Servo AF (AF-F) mode. Additionally, AF-area, Single-point AF, Wide-area AF, and Auto-area AF can all be used.

A circular extension structure supports heavier lenses and prevents any potential bayonet issues after prolonged use. The adapter incorporates a 6.5mm bayonet extension, longer than the focus throw of most manual lenses, and gives the lens a wide focusing range. You can also stack additional Z-mount adapters onto the adapter and maintain autofocus, and a micro USB port is equipped for future firmware updates.

Megadap MTZ11 Reviews

Two copies non-functional

I had high hopes for this item. I did my due diligence including reading reviews and watching various youtube videos. I checked the website of the manufacturer and of course read everything here. The order arrived and this item just didn't work on my Z5. I upgraded the firmware; still no joy. The camera did not recognize it sufficiently to allow the control dial to set aperture (which is how you communicate to the adapter the focal length of the M-mount lens you're mounting). It also stopped the camera from releasing the shutter. After checking everything a couple of extra times and consulting with support at B&H, I returned the item and took a second copy. The second copy behaved the same way, on both the Z5 and a Z9. I checked with other users who have demonstrably working copies, we could not figure out any other thing to try. I don't speak or write Mandarin and communicating directly with the vendor apparently wasn't feasible. I've returned the second copy too. I do still have an interest in the capability that this adapter offers, and it's obvious that there are working copies around in the world. But two for two didn't work with reasonable due diligence, so I'm quite disappointed. Perhaps sometime in the future I'll venture another try. In the meantime, I'm using a much simpler fully manual focus M-to-Z adapter from another vendor, and that at least works perfectly to expectations.

Works really swell with my lens giving autofocus to af-d lens stacked and m42 mounts stacked as well. there are already helpful guides on using this on the internet. Performance is better than I expected.

Doesn't Fit Leica 50mm Summilux-m - Can't Infinity Focus

Genuinely shocked at the oversight on this adapter. The focusing tab of the Leica 50mm 1.4 Summilux asph crashes into the motor housing of the adapter, not allowing it to focus to infinity (adapter fully withdrawn). The tab gets stuck against the adapter plastic and you cannot rotate the lens.

Works great

Bought this to use with my Z6II and Nikkor AI-S and older manual focus glass. It was a little noisy when I first got it but works great. It stopped working after the latest Z6II firmware but I went to Megadap's website and updated this adapter to the latest firmware so now it works again, and even BETTER than before. When I bought this from BH it had a v1.5 which is an old firmware, when I updated it to the latest v3.0 the AF got so much better. No more hunting, stuttering, or noisy clicking. I would say up to par with the Nikon AF-D lenses. The other thing you should be aware of, when connecting this to your computer, make sure you use a USB data cable, not a basic charging cable. It wasn't appearing as a removable drive in my computer but when I used another cable it worked fine and I was able to update it with the latest firmware. You will also want to properly eject the adapter after updating the firmware. Overall I love the adapter. It made shooting with my manual focus Nikon glass great again.

My experience is products like Megadap frequently do not deliver. lI am pleased to day Megadap did what I expected. I have used my old Canon screw mount rangefinder lenses and some OM lenses and expect to use Nikon F on my Nikon Z6 and they work. Not as fast as native focus lenses but they get there and I think I will get better at understanding the best practice. Glad lI purchased.
