Great product, wish Blackmagic made there instructions easy to find...These did what I need right out o the box, but couldn't find the instructions to confirm that. Had to plug them in and hope for the best...They did what I needed!

I bought this for my church. We're going live on Facebook on a budget. We used it once so far and it works great. We had been using a cell phone, but we had a commercial grade camera that wasn't being used. We hooked it up to this and the picture is so much better.

Does exactly what is described.

Quality build - slapped some velcro on the bottom to attach to my rig and was able to output my Komodo to HDMI in order to work with the Raven Eye video transmitter.

Like most Blackmagic converters, this one works just like it's supposed to. We use many converters in our media production. Much more economical than others on the market.

Lacking Details

Product, delivery and price was great...however I expected a little better packaging to protect the item while in transit. The bubble envelope was not enough to keep it from jarring shifts. But the bigger issue was that I ordered one without the power supply since I still had the power supply from the one I was replacing...which was not compatible with the new USB-C power port. I now have to order a separate power supply and increase the overall cost that could have been avoided.

They really are just plug and play, very little setup is required other than run a cable and plug everything in, the power draw is basically nothing making it greatly for running off a battery pack or through a USB hub, I personally plan to purchase more.

Could you use this on an HDMI camera output to run a long SDI cable to an SDI switcher? I'm trying to avoid using HDMI extenders.
Asked by: Dennis
You could but you do not need the Bidirectional model unless the camera is one of the Blacmagic controllable HDMI models. You could simply use one of the Micro Converters HDMI to SDI and back using just one long SDI cable. Or use the Bidirectional if you want an HDMI feed going back using two SSI cables.

For the purposes of an external screen share, my Macbook has HDCP issues (black/flickering screen) that prevents me from plugging a USB-C to HDMI cable directly into my HDMI matrix. Currently, I am able to work around this issue by using a dedicated HDMI switch as an intermediary device. Could I use this instead in between my HDMI Matrix and macbook to convert the signal from hdmi to hdmi? Upstream from the HDMI martix is an Atem Mini Pro so I'm assuming that this Blackmagic device has a compatible video output. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G will not solve your problem.
