Distinguished by its sleek design and advanced optics, the Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 Z is a portrait-length prime designed for Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens's short-telephoto focal length pairs with the bright f/1.8 design to suit working in a variety of lighting conditions and also for controlling depth of field and isolating subject matter. The optical design comprises one extra-low dispersion element and four elements made from short wavelength, highly transparent glass, which help to reduce chromatic aberrations in order to realize high clarity and accurate colors. An HD Nano multi-layer coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, the lens features an STM motor for quick, quiet autofocus performance along with a minimum focusing distance of 2.6' for working with close-up subjects.

Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 STM II Reviews
Just bought this used
Over all super excited to have an 85mm in my collection, went out today took some photos and I'm amazing at the sharpness of it ! Only draw back is since I purchased it used the lens hood has been damaged and it was a pain to get off the lens. I did inspect it once I got it off and it look likes someone didn't put it on correctly and kept trying to force it on, trying to see what I can do to get another one but over all lens looked brand new and performs amazingly
Love this lens
Very sharp, fast, quite and well built. Great lens for the price. Absolutely love it!
Lens itself is fine, but the hood is absolute GARBAGE.
Read plenty of reviews mentioning the hood can be sticky, but went for it anyway. Oops. Sticky is an understatement. It's currently reversed and is locked on to the point it feels like someone covered it in red Loctite. I hate to spend twice as much on Nikon's 85mm, but the Viltrox lens hood is so horribly engineered its unusable.
I like it.
Focuses fast, sharp, quiet, lightweight, build quality is very good. However, it doesn't fit on my x-t2.
Good lens, lousy lens hood mount
I am happy with the quality of the lens and the images it produces. But when I unboxed it I wasn't sure I'd be able to loosen the lens hood to put it in orientation for use. Viltrox needs to fix the design for the lens hood mounting. As it is I won't put it in the reversed position for storage since it is so difficult to get off again.
This lens produces beautiful images! The quality is spectacular, especially for the price!
I watched a ton of YouTube videos on the best RF 85mm lenses. You can have an 85 f1.4 if you want but it's 200 dollars more (that's Canadian) my copy is VERY sharp at f1.8 and has minimal chromatic aberration and fast autofocus. If you are doing photos mostly this is a sweet lens to get into a good prime 85. If you are doing video and photos you might want a lens with stabilization instead. I have put this on my R and RSC 2 and it's a sweet combo for beautiful shots. Highly recommend. I did notice some flaring when shooting with car headlights at night but it was pretty harsh so ill let it pass. Check out some sample photos too
Best budget lens
Awesome portrait lens & the bokah effect is stunning.
