Distinguished by its sleek design and advanced optics, the Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 Z is a portrait-length prime designed for Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens's short-telephoto focal length pairs with the bright f/1.8 design to suit working in a variety of lighting conditions and also for controlling depth of field and isolating subject matter. The optical design comprises one extra-low dispersion element and four elements made from short wavelength, highly transparent glass, which help to reduce chromatic aberrations in order to realize high clarity and accurate colors. An HD Nano multi-layer coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, the lens features an STM motor for quick, quiet autofocus performance along with a minimum focusing distance of 2.6' for working with close-up subjects.

Me encanta. excelente distancia focal. el booke es muy agradable, la nitidez es asombrosa. es rpido, preciso, muy bien construido, metlico. tamao grande bien de fullframe. Y por este valor creo que no tiene rival.

Well built.Fits my Z6 better than the Nikkor's I have.No switches or buttons.AF or manual impulsively.Very happy so far.
Does not maintain manual focus for astro imaging
I achieve perfect focus. Test shot is good with stars in good focus. As I start taking the next shots, the focus point changes and the stars get blurred. So, the lens is unable to maintain focus. I do not know if there is something that can be done to fix this problem.
Affordable 3rd party option for Nikon
I really couldn't be happier with the purchase of this lens. The construction is very solid, the focus ring is very comfortable and has a smooth action. The auto focus is very fast and silent. And the optical performance is excellent. Razor sharp at the center, even at maximum aperture.

Works great, buttery smooth and I probably will not buy a canon 85mm because this was such a great purchase. I have a canon r6.
Unable to update FW
I am very impressed with this lens used on my Z5, but it will not work on my Z9 (which is unfortunate since it is why I bought the lens). I was recommended to update the firmware (FW) but the FW resources are from a Chinese source and instructions are illegible to me. I will continue to use it on my Z5 (and maybe on my Z50 - don't yet know).
