Godox V860III Reviews

It's a flash

Flexible and does exactly what you want.

Support for '860III' and XProC is horrible

For such technological advance devices, the supporting documentation is sadly lacking! The manual is too brief, the print too small, and then printed in 'gray ink' which makes it even more difficult to read. The Godox online instructional video might be classed as clever, but really doesn't give the buyer too much information on operating the all the features their product offers

Great Features for the Price

Purchased to go with two V1 flashes. The battery is very strong. Recycles very fast and battery drain is low. I like the rectangle head which allows the use of a MagMod adapter. Also, the flash has the ability to be switched from TTL Mode to Manual Mode and keep the same flash value. Dollar for Dollar the Godox flashes are great value for the money.

I am pleased

I use this 98% off camera with the Xpro transmitter. I have not had any issues. The combo works as expected and works well. I like the TCM function and I am able to do it from the transmitter. The battery life is good. I don't tax it a lot, though. I shoot small amounts at a time not a ton continuously so I don't have a feel for how long it lasts yet. When I do use it on camera the quick hot shoe release is nice. It seems sturdy enough on my Canon 5DS R. The transmitter does not allow me to select the minimum flash zoom (20mm). Only 24mm is selectable from the transmitter so not a big deal. Maybe this could be resolved with a firmware update.

A bargain

I have been using two 600EX-RT and ST-E3 RT since 2009 and never get any trouble. Said that! I've used the Godox AD 600 PRO for two years and I was looking for a way to make it easier on events as I need to pair more lights on it for photo sessions, and real estate, so I switched the trigger X-Pro for the 860III making it dinamic on events, and for my surprise the behave of the flash and how it interferes on my R6... I just read the other review having the same problem on R6, but not on R5s List of crashes: - flash on the camera and turned off, the camera detects some times as flash on and bring down to 250 shutter speed, event the flash never was on; - after I bring down to -1 on TTL the flash misfired, I have to turn it off and on to bring work again, and one of those times the flash once on backed from -1 to 0, kinda deleting my recent configuration. - from stand by (camera and flash) on the R6 took like 5 photos until black to live and fire the first flash...it never happened with 600RT's - two times the flash overpower the situation on TTL, like doing manual 1/1, turned off and on to back to normal. I was thinking to send it back, but I think it can be solved with firmware because the version II have been working well, I asked a lot photographer before deciding to try it, I never trusted on third party brands. I hope to hear soon something from Godox!!

Does this have "shoot" mode like the Godox transmitters? Why is this not in any of the speedlites?
Asked by: Anonymous
While the feature you describe could hypothetically be added in a future firmware update to the Godox Ving V860III TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Canon Cameras (B&H# GOV860IIIC), it is not present in its first release. Godox has not stated any reason for the omission of the feature (which, as you say, is indeed present in their single function transmitters). However, since its purpose is to allow multiple shooters to share the same flash but with each user wanting different flash settings, it would seem understandable that it wouldn't commonly be thought to be an important feature to add to the flash for utilization during on camera use in particular. It may thus be said that dedicated Godox triggers such as the X1T, X2T, and XPro offer features that the transmitter setting of this flash does not.
