Domke 741-1BK reviews

1" Web Camera Strap with Swivel Quick Release (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made. Metal hardware scratches This is a very well made strap. The grip is nice if you are going to hang that off one shoulder. But even with Domke's anti-slip strap, I would hesitate to carry the camera in such a way. Hence, the best option is to put the strap around your neck. The anti-slip strap won't be of much function, however, in this case. This strap is great for film cameras, or cameras that do not have an LCD. Sometimes, the metal quick release hardware can inadvertently scratch my camera screen while inside a camera bag. Something to be aware of.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Made The materials, look and functionality when assembled on the camera are all good, but when the strap portion is un-hooked from the attachment leads, these leads are way too long and make the detachable feature much less useable. I actually reversed the attachment and use the hooks to clip on to the camera so when the stap is removed the camera is unincumbered by strap tails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Set it and forget it - Stealth. You will not be a product billboard. - Comfortable enough for pro-body with 70-200 (just tuck the tripod collar into your belt. - One side is slippery for quick draw in shooting mode. - One side is grippy for when you are in carrying mode. Con: the weak link is the ring + leather patch connection to the camera. I had those fail on me twice. Just use the standard one that came with your camera and problem avoided. I also gaffer tape it all down, including the quick releases, to avoid accidental releases and entanglements. Bottom line: I have bought just about every strap system out there. They are all gathering dust in a closet while I carry my 3 cameras with this system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very good upgrade, competitive price compared to other brand I bought this for a Sony A6000, but this would be good for a DSLR. Winter waterproof jackets make it too easy for a camera strap to slide off the shoulder accidentally. This is why I purchased the Domke Gripper strap. It is well made, strong to support heavier cameras, yet flexible enough that it makes it easy to put the strapped camera in a small bag. After a week of use I can say I am happy with my purchase. My only gripe about the gripper is that i wish Domke would had designed the strap with the non slip silicon on both sides of the strap. It probably costs a few cents more to make both sides non slip. That would make carrying the camera more care and worry free, I have a Think Tank camera strap that is non slip on both sides and I think it is the better strap but the price is 60% more expensive. I'd give 5 stars if the non slip surface was on both sides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great strap, especially with minor mod For a 1 strap, I've trusted (and not looked back) this thing with my D300 w/ grip and 80-200 for hours at a time, which I probably couldn't say about a lot fo the strap on the market. It's a solid strap that stays where it's supposed to when it's on your shoulder. Some of the other reviewers (and myself, until recently) have complained about the 6 or so of strap that is left over on the camera when you unclip the QR. I've recently switched to a BR DR-1 as my primary system, but was looking for a way to easily go back to these straps when only using one camera at a time. As I was looking at the QR system, I figured that I could simply reverse the connection and reach the desired result. Basically, when you get the strap out of the box from B&H, the QR clips will be attached to the middle part of the strap and a small metal ring will be at the end for attachment to your camera. Simply reverse these two ends - thread the ring around the middle of the strap's D rings and use the QR clip on your camera's strap rings. Obviously, this probably won't work on most P&S's, but all the DSLRs I've seen have rings big enough to fit the QR clip. Just a suggestion that will make it easier for me to transition from event mode to portrait mode with my gear while still providing a solid alternative in either setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little everywhere strap I use it when I throw my mk ii in a bag with a 40mm pancake and I am just missioning about. It's the strap not so much for work, it's more for when I am playing... and it looks great. The little swivelly things keep itt from tangling and the sticky buts under the canvas keep it from slipping(which is important with $3500 camera!)I cant think if too much not great with it, other than maybe a leather sheath for the metalic bits to make sure they dont scratch anything when its in my bag. But I wrap the camera in a camera wrap thing anyway, so not so much an issue really.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good strap! It's a Domke strap, so if you're not familiar with them, it has some gripper strips, which are nice. Plus, they're canvas so they breathe a bit and don't hold moisture like the rubber covered straps from others. They're also lightweight and not very bulky I like the swivel clips to keep everything from twisting. The strap seems like it can get pretty long as there's a lot of excess material that isn't held down very well by the plastic sleeve holders. However, the strap isn't padded at all, so don't get one for heavier gear. I use this with an XPan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suggestions on how to use This is a fantastic product. I am a new hobby photographer and had to figure out everything myself, so I hope other newbies find these suggestions helpful. Xsi body + 70-200 f/4 IS USM. I use this strap like a rifle shoulder tactical on my right armpit (hope that's the correct terminology) (The way Kyle Reese used his shotgun in Terminator) How to make: This strap comes with a 2 little silver keychain rings and 2 leather loops (to protect body from metal). Loop each leather into ring. Loop the silver rings into the body's metal strap-holders. Thread strap through the rings (instead of the body) and through the leather to hold leather in place (adjust leather so it faces toward the body). The purpose of the metal loops is to change the angle that the strap attaches to the body so the camera can face down, not forward, while being hung. I made my strap as long as it can -- so the camera rests at the right waist (ie R-strap resting location). One last step -- additionally clip one of the quick-release into the other side (right next to the other QR) to make a shoulder/armpit loop out of the strap portion. The strap should snugly hug your right armpit and the camera should dangle to your right waist. The extra vertex in the right armpit adds additional stability, especially while the strap is slack while the body is raised when taking photos. You wouldn't need to worry about the strap falling down your elbows while taking photos. You can use your right hand to lightly hug it to your waist while walking. When I remove camera from messenger bag (worn from right shoulder to left waist), I put the sling on first, then remove the camera. Reverse for putting camera back in. Have fun!
