FUJIFILM XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR Reviews
Fantastic versatile lens
This lens performs so well in so many applications....from action images to close-up images of insects. The image stabilization of the lens was definitely beneficial when shooting from a moving boat. As a person that so frequently sways even so slightly when capturing images, the OIS is a great attribute of this lens. Debated between the 100-400mm and this lens and for my needs it performed flawlessly. I was not disappointed in my decision.
Light and versatile zoom
Light and versatile lens at right price point. Works great for capturing images of my kids outdoor sports.
Perfect Weight
I had planned on purchasing a 100-400mm lens. However after reading the reviews I learned it weighed 3.5#. The 100-400mm has better resolution. The 100-300 weights lens than my 16-55mm lens. The 100-300mm lens has enough resolution for my needs. The real question is: do you want a lens that stays on the shelf or one that is light enough every day shooting?
Nice lenses but.....
Nice lenses but image quality after 200m is not so sharp even at F8 or more
Sharp but not suited for a one-lens solution
I bought this lens with my X-T5 before confirming a trip to South Africa involving five days of game shoots in an open Toyota 4x4. When I realized that an Africa 4x4 game drive involves lots of dust and sand, I realized that a 70-300mm lens would involve many changes to a wide-angle lens when animals came close to the truck. I returned the 70-300mm, although it's a really nice lens, and bought a used Fujifilm16-80 because I think it was better suited to game drives. I would not preclude buying an other 70-300 mm Fujinon when I could use it appropriately.
Excellent
Small powerful and useful - and excellent
Weak at the long end.
Relatively solid performance but a little disappointing at the long end. Most zooms with this kind of range are a compromise somewhere. I would rather it was not at 300 where I'll probably be using this lens the most but to get sharper you would need to pay double the price (on Fuji anyway). Not to mention you would be carrying around significantly more weight. Also wondering what other lenses everyone praising the build quality of this one actually own? For Fuji this lens is nowhere near robust. I think it's a solid performer for the price and the build quality is just ok.
Must have lens to zoom in distance
This is the best tele-zoom lens that I ever used for several reason. First of all, IQ is in the range of superior. Very sharp in the center and relatively good around the edges. Second, this is crazy light weight. Thinking about the zoom range that is covering, nothing can beat this portability. If you are hiker, this will reduce a lot of weight. Lastly, its price. You won't be able to find any 105-450mm full frame equivalent range in this price tag.
