Tether Tools CUC15RT-ORG Overview

With this orange, 15 ft long Tether Tools TetherPro USB Type-C Male to USB Type-C Male Cable, you can connect a camera, smartphone, or other USB Type-C device to a computer, for the purposes of transferring data. This cable supports USB 3.0 for data transfer rates of up to 5 Gb/s. This cable also features a right angle connector, which is designed to help alleviate stress on the cable connector.

If you connect a camera to a laptop and your camera is compatible with tethering, you can use this cable to help increase productivity during photo shoots. Rather than proof images on your camera's small LCD, they are sent directly to a notebook's larger, hi-res display. Seeing images in this way helps to review them for slight imperfections that you may have otherwise missed.

To help enhance performance, this cable is fully shielded and plated to help minimize signal interference. This cable supports up to 60W of charging for compatible USB Type-C computers and devices.

I'm having to replace this cable every 3 months or so. I'm a studio photographer so it doesn't get a lot of abnormal wear and tear. Going to start purchasing the Area 51 cables until Tether Tools can get it together.

This cable is being used to tether Nikon and Hasselblad cameras to Mac computers and it is doing its job very well. It is bit stiff, so some sort of strain relief is needed in order to avoid tension on the camera socket.

I work as a Digitech. I tether on a daily basis to all kinds of cameras. These used to be the best cables around... But now, they last about three shoots before they start losing connection and causing all kinds of problems. My photographer friend just gave all his away for free because they are so unreliable and I'm about to do the same. Stay away from these orange monsters in all shapes and sizes. Nothing worse than slowing down a shoot because you have to switch out cables (especially for the price). I have at least $1k invested in tether tools cables and ever since they went to USB 3, they have been terrible. I'd recommend area51.

My Nikon D780 has a USB-C connector, unlike my D850 which has a USB-3 connector. I have now three Tether Tools cables. The USB-C standard will be around for a while. The advantage of USB-C is that it is easier to insert and the transfer speeds are considerably faster than USB-3, let alone USB-2. That right angle connector alone is worth the somewhat high price of this cable. When you are shooting tethered at an event this well-made cable with high visibility saves the day (or night)

Used to be the go-to cable for tethering. Now I average having to buy a new one about every six months. Drops connection left and right. Super frustrating.

No. This is a USB cable and the cable required for the Ultrastudio 3G recorder must be a Thunderbolt 3 cable. Also your computer must have Thunderbolt 3 or 4 support. Thunderbolt 3 Cables - https://bhpho.to/3OGBd0q ( Please note - Optical cables would not work since they do not supply power.)

This Tether Tools TetherPro USB Type-C Male to USB Type-C Male Cable (15', Orange), would be compatible with the Canon R5. Please note, the second side of the cable is also USB C, so you would need a USB C to plug it into.
