This is an excellent light source for digicopying. I use as a light source in combination with a ChromaPro copying unit from the 1980s. I use this rather than the built in tungsten light source in the ChromaPro, as the Skier is silent and cool running and at least as bright, if not brighter than the dedicated tungsten-halogen light source that needs a fan to keep it cool. The negative and slide mounts are high quality, and the resulting scans are excellent. The 96CRI light source will be good for most professional uses. Highly recommended.

A simple box that produces an excellent light for photographing slides and negatives. I have had far, far better results photographing negatives with this box and converting them using Negative Lab Pro than I ever did with my Nikon ED9000 scanning. My only complaint is that when negatives have been cut, as is usually done by photo finishers, they occasionally catch or hang on the negative holder (due to the convexity of the film) as they are being pushed through. It is then necessary to lift the holder and flatten the negative with one's finger for it to slide on through. Not a big deal, but is sometimes a hassle. It is the only reason that I have deducted a star.

I just received this nice combination yesterday and from what I see and tested so far, this is a great option for scanning film. I've looked at all the film holders and none of them give you the same or near similar options as the Skier Copy Box. To have a three stage light source, 35mm/35mm slide and 120/120 slide mask which both adjust to various film sizes is crazy! The 35mm can do panoramic and the 120 can go from 645 to 6x9. All that in two metal mask for this price is awesome!!! Ready to get some work done this weekend.
