LG 32EP950-B Reviews

Great colors and clarity

This monitor looks great. Only thing I wish it was different was the screen finish. It would be great if it had a glossy version available.

Stunning

Superb colors, awesome contrast, looks great out of the box. Very slim and la much lighter panel than expected. Bolts right onto a standard medium duty 100x100 vesa mount. Both my 2013 Mac Pro and my 2021 MacBook Pro plug right in and looks beautiful. Plugged in a ps5 too and that also looks really great!

Outstanding SDR, accuracy

Picked up a used model that showed up brand new/unused with zero hours. I tested out two of these; both had great uniformity, no dead pixels or bleed, and very consistent performance. The colors are great, excellent reproduction of several color spaces. Native and BT.2020 are highly saturated and add some pop in SDR; other spaces are extremely accurate and measure very well against other professional OLED monitors (I compared to a PVM-X550, TVLogic LEM-250A, and PVM-2541A). SDR gaming is great too; response time is instantaneous, and response rate is excellent. A bit disappointed with the antiglare ('semi-glossy') panel vs purr glossy glass screens like the Apple XDR and LG 24md4kl, and especially other OLED TV and laptop panels, but it's next to impossible to find glossy windows panels. Most disappointing and the reason for a star off is the HDR performance for media - the brightness isn't there for a flagship, and the limited settings restrict tweaking in HDR mode. Hoping a fw update fixes the latter. Overall a great first gen JOLED panel great for specific uses; I'm excited to see additional variations of these panels.

Fantastic monitor, no regrets.

This monitor is really amazing. I had a moment of this is what color looks like?! at first, similar to when I got higher end speakers and said this is what music sounds like?!. I learned a lot about WOLED (current LG tvs) vs true RGB OLED (this panel) and how JOLED makes this specific display. Prior I had a 27 inch HP (S2721QS) and the main use is a workstation PC working from home and occasional light gaming. While the monitor is way overkill for my use (I don't do content creation or color correction), I love it and have no regrets even when considering the steep price point. That's just how it is right now given the manufacturing of this size OLED hardly exists. Sadly this is not as bright as my HP but blows it away in everything else. The viewing angles are crisp and improved and while I previously thought 27 inches was perfect for a workstation, I am now sold on the 31.5 inch size. I have enabled dark mode on every application and website that I can and the colors are just electric and amazing. The stand is ugly at the base but still nicely functional, I have the LG mounted on an Ergotron HX Desk Monitor Arm and even though the LG is far below the weight minimum it works just fine. At first I was confused why the bezels are so large but I've realized it needs some form of casing and it benefits from the large casing when I grab the monitor and move/tilt it on the monitor arm. I could do without the USB hub integrated and my real only dislike of this monitor is the noise the settings menu navigator makes upon pressing. Yes OLED monitors will get less expensive but sadly it will take a lot more time, and by that time micro LED or QDOLED might be the successor. Again, the size, the pixel density, the experience using this in the evening, the HDR, it's all just gorgeous.

Awesome monitor for editing

Pros: - Factory calibrated awesome color reproduction out of the box. - Easy switching between modes through menu controller at bottom of screen - Integrated hub - Rotates for vertical work - Not heavy in case you need to move it around - Pro video/photo guys should evaluate if they can spend the $$ - Pixel shift tech should prevent burn in (I have not noticed any issues in the few weeks of use) - Great picture from wide angles Cons: - It doesn't look like a $4000 display, it's just ok. Bevel is thicker than needed (compared to LG's OLED TVs), but overall is much lighter and thinner than some of the miniLED competitors or BenQ ones - It does not have a hood included like some competitors - Stand has limited range to move monitor vertically (I use it on top of a desk shelf so ok) - Edge of screen is thin and you might have a problem mounting a webcam on top if the clamp assumes a wider top) - Speakers not great (I use Edifier Pro in my setup) - No web cam built-in Screen OLED quality is awesome. My monitor had no dead pixels, Stand easy to put on screen, recommend Vesa mount if you need more flexibility to move it at diff horz and vert settings. Editing on it has been a joy, have back-lit it with Hue kights and no problems editing for long hours. No big issues with reflections either. (Note - I don't use for gaming, so cannot comment for that particular use). 4-stars because I need to look better for the amount of $$. 5-stars for screen quality.

Silky smooth and super accurate

After waiting for months for this unit to drop, was able to pickup one on the first fulfillment of units to B&H. What a fabulous buy - long-time user of NEC colour accurate monitors and some ASUS high-end monitors. This LG is fabulous; weighs virtually nothing, colours out of the box are superb and usability is straight-forward. It gets used primarily for colour accurate video editing alongside a Flanders SDI monitor. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Spectacular monitor, but problems with Calibrite Display Pro

By Raymond
Rated 5 out of 5

This is a truly spectacular monitor with a very wide gamut (my unit measures 100% sRGB, 97% Adobe RGB, 99.1% DCI P3). While the dE2000s don't really set it apart from good LED IPS panels, the image is perceptually much better. Whether the price is worth it -- that's your own call. But I have not experienced a jump in monitor quality like this since 2013 when 30+ inch panels started becoming available. Two issues to note though: I was unable to use Calibrite ColorChecker (fka i1) Display Pro to calibrate/profile. The pure reds will not read correctly. SpyderX works though. I have a thread on DisplayCAL's forums on this topic with measurement reports showing the issue. Issue 2 is that LG's tech support on my support case was non-existent. No reply after 10 days. (Calibrite was similar!!!) I eventually discovered DisplayCAL and isolated the problem to the Calibrite colorimeter. I was on the verge of returning the unit if I could not get it correctly calibrated/profiled.

Stellar Monitor

I'm incredibly impressed at the quality of picture this monitor puts out. Previously working off a 27" apple thunderbolt and a Wacom continuing, which I isn't saying much, but this stacks up and even surpasses some of the reference monitors I use at work. Running a 2013 Mac Pro, a 2021, MacBook Pro 16", a PlayStation 5, and occasionally an iPad and everything runs pretty seamlessly. Build quality is incredibly robust considering the thinness of the screen. I have it mounted to a lighter duty ergotron arm, and it moves around incredibly well and with ease while also supporting the weight.

Does this have a Vesa mount on the rear of the display?
Asked by: Jason
Yes, it supports 100x100mm VESA mount, however, keep in mind that the mounting area itself is recessed within the monitor by about 1/4. This caused issue for my quick-release mounts which are not compatible because it hits the monitor when trying to attach.

Does this monitor support Dolby Vision?

Does this monitor support Dolby Vision?
Asked by: Michael
No, it only supports HDR-10. Dolby Vision support is for consumer televisions. However, if you have a Dolby Vision license for colour grading, it will work with this display. To clarify: Dolby Vision is a standard intended to adapt the original image to a range of consumer displays, including HDR televisions with a peak brightness of just 400 nits, or even to SDR displays. The max peak brightness is not what determines Dolby Vision compatibility, contrary to what B&H staff posted here. What determines it is whether it has a Dolby Vision processor embedded in the display (which this model does not, perhaps because it is a professional and not a consumer display). By the way, the maximum brightness of this display is 250 nits for SDR. For HDR it is more than twice as high. Also, the comment about 1000 nits being required to grade HDR is incorrect. What matters is the contrast ratio, and with the true blacks of OLED, this display may well be adequate in a fully darkened room.
