Each optical surface features Super Multi-Layer and Nano Porous coatings to improve contrast and color rendering by suppressing lens flare and ghosting for optimal light transmission, and an added water- and oil-repellent coating on the front optic helps keep the lens free from smudges and droplets. The weather-sealed design benefits working in trying environmental conditions, and a nine-blade rounded diaphragm contributes a pleasing bokeh quality when using wider apertures.

  • Standard zoom for full-frame L-mount mirrorless cameras
  • 42-105mm equivalent focal length when used on an APS-C camera
  • Constant f/2.8 maximum aperture for Low light use and depth-of-field control

Getting a lot of vignetting on S1R. Is it not designed for high megapixel or full frame?
Asked by: Joseph
We're sorry to hear that! The Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN is designed for mirrorless full-frame cameras, and should not present significant vignetting. Early reviews online and our testing in the store shows roughly less than -1/3 EV at the corners at the telephoto, and slightly less at wide. If you experience more vignette than that, please reach our via video live-chat and we can try to troubleshoot with you!

How much image quality degradation of this compared to Sigma 24-70 2.8, if any?
Asked by: Zhenpeng
This is not something that can be easily quantified. The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens is the better lens optically. And it has better build quality. It also gives a wider field of view. The Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens offers the benefit of being lighter and more compact, while still being a very good lens.

Should I buy this for Video or the old Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 ?
Asked by: Mohammed
This is lighter in weight versus the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, but not as wide. The right choice would depend on how wide you need the lens to be.
