Ibanez PCBE14MHWK Overview

Make your low notes heard either acoustically or plugged into an amplifier with the Ibanez PCBE14MH Acoustic-Electric Bass, presented here in a Weathered Black Open Pore finish. With its grand concert body shape and okoume construction, the instrument presents a sonorous tone. Plug it into amplifiers thanks to its on-board preamp and built-in 1/4" endpin jack, or play it acoustically in any unplugged ensemble.

Neck Features
In addition to its okoume top, back, and sides, the instrument provides a 31.9" scale maple neck and a 20-fret laurel fingerboard.
Tuners and Bridge
Chrome die-cast tuners secure the strings to the headstock, and a laurel bridge with Ibanez bridge pins keep strings in place on the body.
Built-In Preamp
The instrument has an undersaddle pickup and an Ibanez AEQ-2T preamp. You'll also find a built-in tuner, so you don't have to buy one separately. The electronics are powered by a single 9V battery.

This bass is ok when it arrives. I had to replace the tuning machines immediately. Two (2) of the original tuners had so much lag in them it was literally unable to tune. A new set of Wilkinson open gear tuners for $40 and away she goes. Needed to file the saddle, action was extremely high and the fretwork is a bit sloppy. All of that said, I was not expecting Guild or Taylor quality, the bass is really nice now with some expected work. I think this bass is a bit too high of a price for what arrived at my door. I have yet to plug it in to play with the minimal electronics, although I don't expect I will be blown away. This bass is not for a beginner, as it does need work straight from the box. However, set of tuners and careful filing, I do really like it.
