Is this a new lens? It says 'new item' in the description. Whats the difference between this lens and previous FA 31mm f/1.8 lenses
Asked by: Mike
This is new release from Pentax: it is optically the same as the previous 31mm lens, but with a newly applied HD coating to produce clear, crisp images even under demanding conditions, and a completely round-shaped diaphragm, as well as an SP coating to the front optical element to improve the water/grease-repellent and scratch-resistant performance.

Is this lens weather-resistant?
Asked by: Raimundo
The only Pentax lenses that are weather-resistant would be those labeled as WR, so unfortunately this one is not weather-resistant.

question

I recently purchased a B+W F-Pro Kaesemann circular MRC polarizer filter for the FA 31. I have read where some filters/brands, when screwed down on the FA 31, contact the front lens element...not good. Will it be safe for me to tighten this filter onto my FA 31? Thanks for any advice you can give.
Asked by: Anonymous
You will be safe to use the 58mm B+W XS-Pro Kaesemann Circular MRC Polarizer on the FA 31.

I have a K-30. I want this lens for group photos. Is it a good choice? Will it auto focus? Or do I need to learn manual focus
Asked by: Victoria
The Pentax HD Pentax-FA 31mm f/1.8 Limited (Silver) is an auto focus lens and compatible with the K30 camera. But since the number of people in a group will vary as well as the available distance between you and the group, you might want to consider this 16-50mm f2.8 zoom instead: https://bhpho.to/3ihSTRz
