The reader gets so hot my card was too hot to handle. Thought it was going to damage my very expensive CFE card. I returned it for a better reader.

I finally use the card reader for the first time and the card reader won't eject the card out. When I manually pull the card out, the card reader broke. A metal piece as seen in the picture has fallen out of the card reader. Unfortunately for me it has been past the days limit to make a return or exchange

I tried a less expensive CFExpress card reader and it got extremely hot. The card was almost too hot to touch. This model Lexar reader stays cool but is way slower than downloading straight from the camera.

it's showing hot card waring in Nikon Z9 during outdoor shoots, Approx 36 degree temp , but not fully exposed on sun working on shades . it shows after more than 300 shots. i continued the shoot with Sony XQD cards it was the backup card without any issues during both shoots. Apart from that, CF express worked perfectly during an indoor event.
