The RCC-5560 Vantage Series C 4-Section Carbon Fiber Compact Tripod from Robus is a robust and portable location tripod that delivers maximum rock-steady stability, even at maximum height. The extremely sturdy 10x carbon-fiber tubes assure a stable platform for still and video cameras, regardless of weather conditions or terrain. For added muscle and steadiness, the leg chassis is made of CNC machined aircraft-grade aluminum.

Designed for pros and amateurs alike, the RCC-5600 extends up to 60" high and boasts a robust 55 lb load capacity for a high-load capacity equipment like pro cameras and large lenses. The lightweight center column-free design has a compact form factor for use on remote locations and in the studio. The ergonomic twist lock joints open and lock with a one-quarter turn for fast and secure setup and breakdown. The legs have three locking positions and independent legs spread to easily achieve level positioning on uneven terrain, even down to its minimum height of 3.2" for macro imaging applications.

CNC-Machined Aluminum Spider

The CNC-machined spider features a standard 3/8"-16 threaded mounting stud, a carabiner for hanging ballast for added stability, and a 1/4"-20 threaded socket for mounting a strap or other accessory.

Compact Design

This lightweight carbon fiber tripod is built for travel. It folds down to 22.3" and weights just 4.4 lb for ultimate portability. It is light and portable enough to carry along any time a tripod may be needed.

Interchangeable Feet

The RCC-5560 includes interchangeable standard rubber feet and spiked feet, and accessory wide rubber feet are also available separately. Feet are interchangeable via the 3/8"-16 socket at the end of each leg.

Adjustable Leg Angles

Three adjustable leg positions lock at 25, 55, and 85° with independent leg spread accommodates uneven terrain, down to a minimum height of 3.2".

Twist Lock Joints

Twist Locks Joints open with a quarter turn to extend to a maximum height of 60" or collapse the 4-sections of the leg quickly.

Tactile and Comfortable Rubber Leg Grips

Heavyweight rubber sleeves on two legs provide a secure, comfortable, and balanced grip under any weather conditions.

Carrying Case

The included carrying case allows room for select tripods head to be stored when attached to the leg set.

Impressive quality and max (62") height from a travel-size folded length of just 22". I use this tripod both photo and video work. To me, it's been a fantastic design for the 2 applications I need it for. Cumbersome attributes and weight come to mind for tripods dedicated specifically to video. It also puts the lens at eye level and I love that about this RCC-5560. It's my favorite characteristic, just ahead of its 4-section carbon fiber beefy legs and aluminum spider (the center part holding all the legs) with two threaded mounting points for accessories and anchor-weight. I hang my backpack from underneath to secure it down with the weight of what I carry. The diameter of the legs is much larger than any of my previous tripods and when collapsed, it makes it possible to grab all 3 twist-locks at the same time to loosen/ tighten them with a 1/4 turn. I can get set-up/ leave in 20 sec or less. Paired with the RTH-1050 head (also from Robus, see the attached pics), this combination can handle 55 lbs of gear! I haven't gone anywhere that limit yet, even when fully rigged-up. And for me, it's rock solid. I appreciate the small details such the pull/ push (as opposed to pressing and holding) safety locks to adjust the legs angle. And the rubber feet are contoured to provide grip/traction even when the legs are spread-out and angled low at maximum. Spikes are included to use with terrain that calls for them but they are not built-in, the rubber feet must be removed to expose the mounting thread on each leg. I don't use its carrying case but that too, is high quality and can accommodate the tripod without having to remove the head. It weights about 4.4 lbs. Good leg friction/ resistance. Allen keys are included to adjust the fasteners if need be. Super easy to handle by hand and two of the legs have rubber sleeves on them to ensure a non-slippery grip with or without gloves and avoid tactile discomfort in extreme cold. If you wonder what the carbon fiber craze is all about like I used to, I highly recommend you select a robust and strong CF fiber tripod like this one to ease the use and improve safety when handling and working with cumulative and expensive gear. Love this tripod and the head I am using it with. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

The platform measures 61.4mm / 2.41". We tested it with the RRS BH55 and unfortunately, the leg lock does bump into the BH55 at its widest leg angle

Why are the leg diameters of the RCC-5560 so much greater than those of the RC-5558 and RC-5570 and yet the RCC-5560 is a lighter weight tripod?

While we are only able to guesstimate the engineering done in order to make that happen, it's possible that the main reduction in weight is from the reduction of size (and therefore amount of heavy and robust metal used in making) the tripod's spider/apex/platform.
