Get Up Close and Wide Open
The XF 18mm f/1.4 R WR Lens continues FUJIFILM's tradition of compact, portable primes lenses for discerning photographers. This wide-angle lens is well-suited to documentary, travel, landscape, nature, architectural photography, and even astrophotography. Its fast f/1.4 maximum aperture balances size and speed and is suitable for working in available lighting conditions, offers greater control over depth of field, and provides a soft bokeh effect at wider apertures while also limiting the overall size and weight of the lens for everyday use.
Dynamic Wide-Angle Performance
This 18mm lens has the equivalent perspective of a 27mm lens for full-frame format cameras, offering superior wide-angle performance in tight or intimate shooting situations. It can help to capture both meticulously planned shots and spontaneous moments that fly by.
Weather Resistant
The lens body incorporates weather sealing to protect against dust and moisture, and to enable worry-free use in inclement conditions and freezing temperatures as low as 14°F.
Optical Design with ED and Aspherical Elements
The optical design contains 15 elements in 9 groups, including three aspherical elements and one ED element to limit distortion and spherical aberration for optimal sharpness and accurate rendering. The design produces beautifully sharp images from corner to corner with little-to-no distortion at the frame's edges.
Nine-Bladed Circular Diaphragm
The rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality, making it easy to have the main subject of the image stand out.
Fast, Precise Focus
The linear autofocus motor provides fast and responsive, near-silent AF down to a minimum object distance of just 7.9 inches in as little as 0.04 seconds. The internal focusing design also offers the option of smooth manual focusing control.
EBC Coating for Color Fidelity
All of the optical elements in the lens feature Super EBC coating to reduce lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity.

How is the manual focus experience? Sometimes I prefer to use manual for street photography.

The the FUJIFILM XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR Lens the barrel glides smoothly and manual focusing ring provides smooth and even rotation from one end to the other. However, the manual focus ring lacks a clutch like that in the FUJIFILM XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR Lens.

Do you guys think it's worth upgrading from the 16 1.4? I really love he latter but the images output I've seen in the internet with the 18 look stellar! I would have to obviously trade the 16 though...
Asked by: Roberto
Personally I think it's a superior lens! I've tried the 16 and was super happy with it... However the 18 is more versatile, and I love how it renders images and colors. Very happy with mine!

Why is the magnification shown .15x (less than that of .21 for the 16mm lens)?
Asked by: Larry
I was wondering if focal length which is usually converted to 35mm equivalent does not relate to magnification, what does? I realized that the focus distance would be another part. I found the answer by B&H incomplete so did a web search and indeed found: https://photographylife.com/what-is-magnification "Because magnification can be thought of (and even expressed mathematically) as a combination of focal length and focusing distance" Sensor size is also considered though not really part of magnification, nor the number of pixels . Guessing a what the mathematical formula I tried a ratio , and then the square of that which worked.

My XF18mm F1.4 has this constant electric motor running noise when camera is on. It is noticeable loud. Is it normal ?
Asked by: Sergey
If you have Pre-Focus AF on, it could be that causing the noise. There is some noise reported, although most don't find it to be a problem.
