Combining a wide-angle perspective with a fast maximum aperture, this 24mm f/1.8 AF Compact Autofocus Lens from Rokinon is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 36mm equivalent focal length when used on an APS-C camera body. Two extra-low dispersion elements, three high refractive index elements, and two aspherical elements are incorporated into the lens construction to help to control aberrations and distortions for increased clarity and sharpness. Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to all lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture excels in difficult lighting conditions and enables greater control over depth of field and focus placement. The Linear STM autofocus motor provides fast, quiet focus, and the lens barrel incorporates a custom function switch and a focus hold button for optimal focus control. The nine-blade diaphragm to produce a quality of bokeh.

The Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E Mount, B&H # RO2414SEM, is a manual focus lens, whereas the Rokinon 24mm f/1.8 AF Compact Lens for Sony E, B&H # RO2418SE, is an autofocus lens. According to Rokinon's nomenclature, [ED] means the lens has extra-low dispersion element(s), [AS] means the lens contains aspherical elements, [IF] means the lens has internal focusing, and [USM] means the lens has Ultra Multi Coating.

Yes, this is the 24mm f/1.8 prime with the dedicated astrophotography mode. According to Rokinon/Samyang: "Astrophotography Mode Astrophotography Mode automatically sets the lens focusing mode to MF, moves and locks the lens to infinity focus, and the Infinity Focus Confirmation LED will light in green. Physically, there are no differences as they are from the same manufacturer marketed under different names based on their intended region of sale; Samyang Optics (the Korean manufacturer) and Rokinon (USA-distributor).
