Combining a wide-angle perspective with a fast maximum aperture, this 24mm f/1.8 AF Compact Autofocus Lens from Samyang is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 36mm equivalent focal length when used on an APS-C camera body. Two extra-low dispersion elements, three high refractive index elements, and two aspherical elements are incorporated into the lens construction to help to control aberrations and distortions for increased clarity and sharpness. Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to all lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture excels in difficult lighting conditions and enables greater control over depth of field and focus placement. The Linear STM autofocus motor provides fast, quiet focus, and the lens barrel incorporates a custom function switch and a focus hold button for optimal focus control. The nine-blade diaphragm to produce a quality of bokeh.

Samyang AF 24mm f/1.8 Reviews
Product Shipped with OLD firmware
While I’m happy with the sharpness and micro contrast of this lens, I’m extremely disappointed on the focus performance. It hunts in AFC with my A6700. It is doubly disappointing that B&H/Samyang ships me a lens in April 2025 with version 1 firmware. Looking at the Samyang site v3 of the firmware released in 2022 does not address the issue. It seems that Samyang release a “beta” firmware to address the issue in Oct 2023. I’m looking at their site and it seems they have not yet released an official version o fix the problem. To add insult to injury, I have to buy a lens station in order to update firmware just to see if it would fix the issue that should have been fixed BEFORE this product was shipped to me. Needless to say, I’m extremely disappointed that I have to go to these lengths to try to get a functional lens and buy a lens station to boot. I’m not normally one to return an item but if the firmware upgrade does not fix these issues, I will be giving B&H a call to return this item.
This is a great little lens!
For the money you can't beat it. Plenty of features, very sharp, good flare control, and it's as small and light as many APS-C lenses. I keep hearing about copy variants with Samyang, this is my fourth Samyang/Rokinon and I have yet to experience any issues.
