Bescor MP-101 Overview

Control your camera's pan and tilt remotely with this MP-101 Pan/Tilt Head with 50' Remote Extension & AC/L-Series Plate Kit from Bescor. This kit includes the MP-101 Motorized Pan & Tilt Head, a PS-260 power supply, an MP6VA L-series battery adapter plate, a 50' remote extension cable, and a remote control.

The MP-101 mounts between your tripod and camera, supports up to 6 lb payloads, and can pan and tilt at adjustable speeds. The remote control allows you to control the head's mechanical functions remotely, and the 50' extension allows you to control it from a distance. The included AC power supply allows you to power the head when mains power is available. If no mains power is available, the L-series battery plate allows you to power the head using a separately available Sony L-series battery, and the adapter provides 6V regulated power to the head.

Does what I needed, not good for higher-end production

This won't eliminate the need to have a person behind the camera for higher-end productions, but for cameras that have built-in stabilization it does fine. The motion is a bit jerky but it still let me reposition the camera while manning the production desk. It would be better if it automatically ramped up and down with movements, but the battery life is very good. I basically ran a three-day conference on one set of rechargeable AA's and never had an issue.

The motor is a little noisy and the speed adjustment is somewhat finicky but over all gets the job done.

I have used this head in the field for several projects. Easy to use, smooth operation, can pan/tilt simultaneously to sweep at an angle, and good battery life. Wish there as a little wider dynamic range of speed between slow and fast. While quiet when running, my on-camera microphone picks up the sound of the motors (not an issue for me as I always use off camera mics). For the price this is a nice piece of equipment and MUCH better than trying to pan a shot manually.

This is the second Bescor Motorized Pan & Tilt head that I have bought. They are installed in my church to mobilize some very fine camcorders. I also have a zoom control on each. They work great.

A great unit, allow to pan and tilt our camcorder while recording our Church services as the pastor moves around the platform or goes down to congregation level. Highly recommend this to anyone doing any kind of production with movement.

Bescor does not make Pan and Tilt Heads that can hold a capacity in the 10-15 pound range I'm afraid. However the Wild Shot Camera CPT 1019 is a great option and has a load capacity up to 13 pounds.

No it can not. You may want to consider something like the Syrp Genie Mini II Panning Motion Control System (BH #SY330001 • MFR #SY0033-0001) If you need it for both panning and tilting consider the Syrp Genie Mini II Pan and Tilt Kit (BH #SY330001PTK (B&H Kit))
