Yes the Tamron 150-500mm lens would be a good lens for personal use sports. For professional use I would recommend the Sony 200-600mm: https://bhpho.to/3h2TVBV

Hi. I thought this will be launched on 10th of June. Delayed? Any new dates?
Asked by: fairuz
According to Tamron's original press release, due to the current global health crisis, the release date or product supply schedule for the Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VXD Lens for Sony E could change. We have not received an updated shipping date for the 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VXD Lens, but do note that all pre-orders must be shipped before the lens will be listed in our inventory as "In Stock" for shipping or in-store pickup. As such, the fastest way to obtain the lens before it is listed as "In Stock" would be to place a pre-order for the lens, and once the lens starts arriving from the manufacturer, all pre-orders will be shipped in the order in which they were received.

Will I be able to put my FE 1.4x on the back of this Tamron 150-500?
Asked by: Rod
Nope - just look at the images of the female connector and you will see the opening is non-cylindrical, thus preventing the male portion of the tele 1.4x from fitting inside. Laowa lenses are the only ones I have found that work with the Sony 1.4x converter.

Will the Sony 2x teleconverter work with this lens?
Asked by: John R
Unfortunately no. There are no teleconverters made for the Tamron 150-500mm lens at this time. If you need a longer zoom than 500mm, I would recommend the Sony 200-600mm lens plus the Sony teleconverter.

Is AF-C Mode very responsive with this lens? Thank you very much.
Asked by: George
Unfortunately, because this lens is still in pre-order stage/not fully available yet, we cannot say for certain. However, based on other Tamron Di III series lenses, we have found they work incredibly fast with E-mount cameras (results based on the camera rather than the lens) and we are very confident that this will be a great lens to use in AF-C.
