Designed for pro-level producers and beatmakers on the go, the M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini is a portable USB MIDI keyboard controller that combines 32 velocity-sensitive semi-weighted mini keys with versatile control hardware, auto-mapping, Smart Chord and Smart Scale technology, and an arpeggiator. It also ships with a suite of creative software (including a MIDI editor, DAWs, and virtual instruments), allowing for immediate music making onstage or in the studio.

The Oxygen Pro Mini features eight velocity-sensitive backlit RGB pads with Note Repeat for beat production and finger drumming. With four assignable faders as well as a slew of buttons and knobs, it's easy to control virtual instruments, plug-ins, and DAW functions. Ergonomically designed pitch and modulation wheels along with a 1/4" sustain-pedal input provide you with additional control over your music and performance. Use the 3.5mm MIDI output to interface with hardware synths and sequencers, and select presets to automatically map the Oxygen Pro Mini to your favorite DAW software.

Portability for the Pros
The Oxygen Pro Mini is a 32-key, USB-powered MIDI controller that allows you to create the music you want, wherever you want. Oxygen Pro controllers open up worlds of expression and creativity and make bringing your production ideas to life more seamless than ever. Taking feedback from users and artists alike, Oxygen Pro controllers are powerful studio and live performance tools, allowing you to keep your focus on creating music rather than programming your software. It doesn't matter if you want to create music on the go or in the studio, the M-Audio Oxygen Pro series is perfectly flexible for your workflow.
Seamless DAW and Performance Control with Automapping
It's simple to use the Oxygen Pro Mini controller with any DAW—controls such as transport, faders, channel controls (record arm, solo, mute, and select), pan controls, and more are automatically mapped to the physical knobs and sliders on the Oxygen Pro Mini. Whether you use Ableton, Pro Tools, MPC Beats, Cubase, Logic, Studio One, or any other major DAW, just select your DAW in the Oxygen Pro Mini and select the correct configuration in your DAW. The Oxygen Pro Mini's controls are then completely integrated into your DAW. It also instantly maps to all the virtual instruments included with the Oxygen Pro Mini (Velvet, Mini Grand, Vacuum, Boom, DB3-3, and Xpand!2). These world-class Air Music Tech plug-ins can be fully controlled by the Oxygen Pro Mini and used in real time as you create and mix your music.
Smart Controls
With Smart Chord activated, pressing a single key or pad will play a full chord rather than just one note. The key or pad you press will determine the root note in the chord. The rest of the chord's properties are determined by the settings you choose. Smart Chord also has a Custom Mode, which lets you to determine the chord structure that will be assigned to each key by manually playing it. For example, if you select Custom Mode and play a B7 chord, every key will then be assigned to play this chord structure. The note of the key you press will serve as the root of the chord, and all of the parameters can be edited right on the Oxygen Pro Mini.

The Oxygen Pro Mini also features intelligent Smart Scale technology. With Smart Scale, you can set the keybed so that only notes in the selected scale are able to be played. This allows you to play within a chosen scale without the risk of playing any undesired notes. You can choose from 16 different scale variations when assigning a scale to the keyboard. Smart Scale is easy to activate and deactivate and allows you to set the scale parameters you need to keep you focused on creating.

Pro-Level Producer Features
Built into the Oxygen Pro Mini are features that are essential to creating modern day pop, electronic, hip hop, and dance music. Note Repeat and the built-in Arpeggiator open up a world of precise music production and live sound techniques to make your music sound professional.

Note Repeat allows you to hold down any of the custom-made M-Audio performance pads to hear a repeated rhythmic pattern at a selectable note division. The Note Repeat feature can be activated momentarily or used in Latch mode. If you choose Momentary, holding the Note Repeat button will make the note repeat. If you choose Latch, pressing any pad will cause its assigned note to repeat indefinitely after you release the Note Repeat button, and until you press the Note Repeat button again to stop it.

The built-in arpeggiator will affect anything you are playing on the keys from any virtual instrument in your DAW. When the Arpeggiator is activated, the keyboard will repeatedly play the pressed keys in sequence. The arpeggiator's timing and rhythm is based on the keyboard's time division setting, and either the keyboard's or your DAW's tempo setting. Each note in the arpeggio will be the length you've selected for the time division setting; for example, if you select 1/4, each note in the arpeggio will be a quarter note. This powerful tool can operate in Latch or Momentary mode, making it easy to unleash your creativity.

Next-Gen Playability
With great feel in a lightweight chassis, the Oxygen Pro Mini controller provides a new level of creative inspiration. The M-Audio PrecisionTouch mini keybed adds professional semi-weighted action with advanced high-speed keybed scanning technology for an ultra-expressive playing experience.

I found nothing wrong with this keyboard since I opened it, everything works smoothly, there are auto-midi-mapped buttons for specific DAW's and its lots of fun to customize!

Insane value for money

I am sure if you're reading this you probably have already seen some youtube reviews on this unit. It's kind of staggering how much you get for the dollar with modern controllers. The one negative I will put out there is the keys definitely do feel a little vague at times. Also, not that I plan to put this to the test, but I have a feeling dropping this keyboard the wrong way would have a bad outcome. Buttons, dials and sliders are all great, but this chassis honestly feels pretty thin. Again- that's part and parcel for this kind of money. If I could change one thing it would mainly be the key feel. If you are looking for something cheap and cheerful to make some loops or practice on the go, this is it!

Not for Reason

Integration with Reason miserably deficient. The only buttons in DAW mode that work are transport start, stop, record, and loop. I had to do a lot of DAW edits and include Mackie Control in Reason control surfaces to get it to adequately work. Also, the present editor software does not load.

How do I suspend or change the velocity? It doesn't work properly or I do something wrong.
Asked by: Jan
In the menu, you should see a 'VEL CURVE' setting that you can select and adjust the velocity on the keys as needed.
