This is my second one; I gave the original to my daughter. As has been true for the last 15 years, this makes the use of speedlights very effective for all sorts of work.

I've used this product with great results for over a year on my Canon 5D III. I'm sure it will work with all Canon cameras but of course I don't own them all.

I will be using it for some still life & occasional portraits where I will be using 2 or 3 of my speedlites for side/backlites when I do not need 1 mounted on my 6D.

Hi, I live in Australia Melbourne, I bought several items from this store and thus far I have experienced nothing but the best in service, customer and product quality. The ST Speedlite Transmiter is an excellent item and I would Personally Recommend it to any photographer. The quality of service in this store is such that If I were to find another store that offered the same items at a lower price I would still buy it here.

Makes off camera flash much less complex.

ETTL off camera is very easy with the ST-E2. flash exposure compensation works well and multiple speedlight control is much easier to implement. Was unaware that a battery was not included. Local camera store had one.

Very good service

For my purposes, macro off camera flash, it works fine. I don't need distance or anything fancy. This is easy to use and fires both my off camera flashes flawlessly.

question

I'm using a Wescott Reflector mounted on a tripod. I want to mount my 580 EXII to the reflector tripod and the transmitter to my camera. What do I use to mount the Flash to the tripod? I don't want to be wired to the tripod with a synch cord (thus getting this system) but I don't have anything other than a synch cord for mounting to the tripod setup.

Hi. I just saw your question from a few years back and I thought I would chime in too. Check out something like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1305521-REG/impact_dub_2_deluxe_umbrella_bracket_with.html It's a bracket that you can attach a flash or a transmitter to and also attach a soft box. I use a Westscott softbox and kit comes with a cold shoe mount in the kit. I think the Godox transmitter and receiver would be a cheaper solution and a better solution if the flash is hidden by a softbox or reflector. Good luck.

Unfortunately, the AF assist beam would not function if the ST-E2 is mounted on a Nikon D850.

question

Has anyone used this as strictly a focus assist tool in low light situations (without a flash)? I have one and it's never let me down, in/out doors but I'm trying to use less flash, had a lot of focus issues last wedding (dark venue). I tried experimenting around the house last night, seems to work just wondering if anyone uses it for this purpose, thanks.
Asked by: Joseph
Yes you could use this Canon ST-E2 Speedlite Transmitter for that purpose, it has a built-in AF Assist Beam.

This Canon ST-E2 Speedlite Transmitter is not listed as being compatible with the Canon 6D camera, the Canon ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter is recommended for it instead.
