Dell U4021QW Reviews

Excellent monitor all round. Resolution and real estate are superb.

Very happy with this monitor. I'm using it as a display for my MacBook Pro M1 and a desktop PC. The built in KVM switch works almost flawlessly so I can switch between Mac and PC very quickly and easily. Very very occasionally it doesn't bring the keyboard along with it when I switch, but a quick power cycle of the monitor takes care of that. It has only happened twice in the few weeks I have owned it though, so it's really not a concern given the workaround is so easy. The monitor size is absolutely fantastic for coding, which is my primary use case. The added width versus a traditional monitor allows me to position my IDE so that my main code editor is directly in front of me instead of slightly to one side. That is a very nice ergonomic win. The additional screen real estate allows me to keep documentation or a running app visible alongside the IDE. It really is a superb setup. Not cheap, but there is a lot to be gained here. Text is crisp and clear. I migrated from a 27" iMac 5K so I was slightly concerned that the lower PPI on this display would be noticeable. That was totally unfounded. I have other monitors at 108 ppi, which is a very noticeable drop from the 217 ppi of the iMac. This monitor comes in at 139 ppi and I really cannot tell the difference vs the iMac. Obviously there actually is a difference there, but for my eyes they both look the same in terms of detail reproduction etc. I found an online Retina PPI calculator which tells me that this 5K2K monitor would become "Retina" at a viewing distance of 25 inches. i.e. At or beyond 25" you should not be able to distinguish any individual pixels and there would be no real visual acuity gain from adding resolution. As it happens I'm at pretty much spot on 25 inches viewing distance and it really does look perfect. So, not a cheap monitor by any means but a fantastic result and it is doing exactly what I hoped it would. In my case it has been a very worthwhile investment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent screen - replacing 3 - 24inch monitors -- takes some time to adapt with eyes and color/brightness - standard color mode is dim but better with blue light on eyes. Does not have IPS black or HDR but honestly I would not buy this monitor for those needs. Hub works flawlessly - no more KVM - 3 cables to connect 2 computers. Be sure to update all pcs with display driver - caused some pain in setup but learned what I needed to do.

Nice large display. Resolution is good. Brightness is ok. If using the USB charging feature, the brightness is pour. Also does not support HDR.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wowzers! I was not expecting this monitor to just blow me away like this. Switching from dual monitors to one ultra-wide monitor is game changing. Being able to use the whole screen for design and creative work and then split up the screen into zones with Dell Display Manager has totally enhanced my productivity. The resolution on this monitor is jaw dropping, when I work on drawings or Sketchup, it looks like you are working with printed material. Just WOW! Having just a single thunderbolt cable to my MAC makes this so easy to work with and then using the built-in KVM to switch over to my PC, with the same keyboard and mouse, it all just WORKS! Is there room for improvement, sure, just make it an OLED for the same price, but honestly the brightness and black levels are quite good for an IPS display.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Started flickering a week after I bought it. Hopefully it's a one off and the new one won't have more problems, we'll see.

Want to share one monitor with two PCs. Since the HDMI inputs are crippled, how does one drive the Thunderbolt input with a Desktop PC?
Asked by: Robert
98.43" or 2500mm. Not anywhere near the 32" I was hoping for. The 2500R says the radius of circle that matches the curve of the screen in mm. If you sit 32" from the center of the display the edge of the display is 35.35" away vs 36.86" for a flat screen. Numbers are approximate and measured from a CAD drawing. 1000R would be good for old eyes at 32" but monitors don't seem to curve that much.
