ASUS PA148CTV Reviews
Great second monitor for portable office setup
A simple 1 cable setup (USB C) from my computer to this monitor. Easy to set up. Touch screen is responsive. Brightness is sufficient. Finally a way to travel w/ 2 screens.
Very high quality and bright screen.
In my home office, I have two monitors on my desk and i missed having the two screens when I traveled with my laptop. I originally purchased a less expensive ASUS portable monitor and although it produced a clear and sharp image, i decided I wanted something that would provide a much brighter image and next purchased the ProArt PA 148CTV. This monitor is absolutely perfect as a second screen and i am extremely happy with it. Note, I did not buy it for its creative properties, but just to use it as a high quality add on screen, which it does very well. OK, I know this sounds odd, but i also travel with a 3 ft wide folding desk. This monitor has a tripod socket and I mount it on a mini tripod, so it sits just above my laptop's screen. Perfect!!
Not a good One Cable solution
I had a minor hardware issue on my unit where the center selector button in the control ring wasn't properly attached and fell off shortly after I received it. I was able to spread the plastic clips a bit and reattach it, and so far it hasn't fallen off again. My main issue with the device is it's apparent power draw over USB-C. When connected to a laptop only using the USB-C connection, if the brightness is set too high on the ProArt 14, and/or audio is being played through the built in speakers, the monitor will seemingly randomly disconnect. I've had this happen while connected to a 13 MacBook Air M1, Asus Zephyrus M15, and a Razer Blade 14 (2021). As long as power is supplied separately through the second USB-C port, there is no issue with the dropouts. Having to use a second cable and power source is certainly not ideal. Other than that, color accuracy is good for a portable monitor, and it appears that it is built reasonably well, aside from my issue with the improperly attached selector button. Touchscreen response is good. The speakers aren't great, but that's somewhat expected in this class of device. For $400, I would have hoped it would work properly with a single USB-C connection.
Colorful and portable
Great colors and very nice monitor. Fits perfectly inside of my O11 Dynamic Evo
Great monitor
Amazing and awesome monitor. Very easy to deal with in the field, great color rendition and true one cable solution. The only reason this isn't 5 star is because features are severely limited on Mac. It's still a great companion monitor to a Macbook pro but no touch, no adobe features, no wheel control and no auto rotate. If it's truly for creatives it needs better Mac integration. Otherwise perfect for judging color and luminosity in the field.
