Designed for close-up photography, the MF12 Macro Flash 2-Light Kit from Godox makes macro photography easy. The flash heads enable you to shoot beautiful and sharp photos of small subjects such as plants, animals, and insects at an extremely close distance. The MF12 flash heads can be mounted on the included flash stands and feature adjustable heads for quick positioning. For added versatility, the flashes can be mounted directly to a lens via the included adapter rings and mounting ring that lets you mount up to six MF12 flash heads. Also included is an Extreme Close-Up Positioning Adapter with a specially designed slope structure that lets you angle the flash heads inwards toward the lens for extreme close-up photography. For on and off camera use, the flash heads require a separately purchased transmitter and are compatible with the Godox XPro, X1, X2, and other select wireless flash triggers for main brand cameras such as Nikon, Sony, Canon, FUJIFIM, Olympus, and Panasonic.

Godox MF12 Reviews
Great for creative problem solving!
These little usb chargable flashes are in my huge location lighting kit. I use them for complex environmental portraits and shooting rooms or other indoor environments in specific cases. Specifically they come in most handy when i want to throw a tiny amount of light onto something in a scene but there is no other way to get a light stand or strobe in that spot. They can be hidden within the scene and can put little pockets of light hard to light spots. My favorite use is inside lamp shades with a 1/2 or full CTO gel. When i am using my own flashes to light an environment and i want a lamp to still appear as if it is "turned on" I can just tape one of these inside the lamp shade. The little stem also has a 1/4 20 socket on the bottom so you can screw them onto lightstands, or studs or clamps as well if you want. Haven't used them a single time for close up macro work but they are a great little tool to keep in your bag for creative problem solving.
5 Start of the box and after day 2
Let me preface the review by stating I hate the Nikon R1C1 system because the flashes always had problems and it grossly overpriced. My Bolt VM-160 ringlight served me well but I was never happy with the quality of light but for the price, as I said, it served me well. This MF12 system is a macro dream. The flashes are rechargable which I didn't think would be good but can easily handle 300-500 shots which is a standard macro outing. I can't praise this system enough. It is the best I've used yet.
nice set up.
read the above entry.
Flash heads to not fall!!
What a ridiculous thing someone complained about. That person didn't have the mounting ring on tightly if the flash heads caused a rotation due to gravity. I've never had this happen. Flash heads are good for hundreds of shots at 1/8 power before needing a recharge. The kit is great in that it comes with a case and colored gels. Great kit! Highly recommend!
A great flash kit that is also affordable
The MF12 has been a solid performer! I have not had it for too long but I have already taken it out with me for a few different ideas and I am happy that the system is pretty light and easy to setup. The only thing I wish it had was a few more smaller lens mount sizes since I do have a few Olympus lenses have filter threads that are smaller than what the kit provided. Overall really happy and I will explore more ways to use it!
What's Not to Like?
This kit is very competitively priced for all it includes. The gear appears stout and it is super easy to operate the flash units. I'm having a lot of macro fun with the kit! I've paired the kit with the Godox X2 wireless trigger and I can recommend that product highly, as well (a compatible trigger is necessary to operate the flash units.
Great system: light weight & powerful
At the recommendation of other macro photographers, I bought this kit. It's very well designed and built. It's so lightweight that I can continue to shoot handheld for long periods of time. The flash units recharge over USB-C and hold a charge for a very long time. They're so powerful that I use them on Manual mode and dial their power way back.
Great piece of kit
Solid construction and super versatile design. Weak point is the metal mounting ring to the plastic lighting mount, which sometimes slips causing the plastic ring to rotate. I found a sweet spot where it fits kore snugly, but maybe something they can fix for a future design.
