TTArtisan 7.5mm f/2.0 Fisheye Reviews

Excellent Value

I bought this to play with on a recent vacation, and it exceeded all expectations. Sharpness is very good for the price, and build quality is top notch. Manual focus isn't much of a limitation at this focal length. The only reason this isn't getting five stars is the cap. It doesn't fit very tightly, and it wobbles a lot because the top/bottom shade petals are bigger than the side ones.

Very solidly built. Fun to use!

The reason I gave this lens a 5 star is because the fun I'm having with it, and for the price, you can't beat it. The images are really cool with the 360 degree effect, and nice sharpness. In the angle I took a photo of my bulldog, made it look like she has a long nose. This lens is a blast!

Overall good performance, some issues.

Planning a trip to London in May, and wanted a smaller fish-eye than my Minolta AF 16/2.8. I also didn't want to spend a lot. After reading/watching numerous reviews (best one from Dustin Abbott) I decided on the TTA offering. What I like: really solid, all metal construction, smooth focus, positive detents in half stops on aperture ring. When carefully focused it is stunningly sharp in the center starting around F3.5-4, corners are very good at 5.6-8. Surprisingly smooth transition from in to out of focus at F2-4. Since I shoot both aps-c and FF, the removable circle on the cap makes for a full circle with nice edges on the A7Rii. Haven't used the included ND1000 as yet, but imagine it will see some usage on time exposures. Not so good: While not a surprise, I was disappointed that there is no hard stop focus at infinity. Actual infinity point is about 1 meter point. Luckily, Sony's magnified view keeps this from being a deal breaker. While I appreciate the two-piece feature on the lens cap, the cap itself has a very poor fit. It wobbles when you put it on, and I'm concerned it will fall off. May use an old time lens keeper strap as finding any kind of replacement cap would be difficult. Finally, I know it wouldn't be economically possible, I wish more 3rd party lens makers would install electronic contacts on MF lenses. I have a Voightlander 4.5/15mm FE lens with contacts. As soon as I turn the focus ring, the view is magnified making focus fast and accurate. It also lets the camera know the focal length for IBIS. I would pay more for a lens with this feature, but it would be a lot more than $139. So overall, a good budget choice which will do what I want it to do.

Just Great!

I never expected such a great lens for that low price. It produces very high quality still images as well as great videos on my Sony a7s III camera. You can watch a footage on youtube: https://youtu.be/MSdpIXYi9tM

This is a great lens for the price. I use it on my old a5100, which I keep in my bag as a backup when we travel. It's nice to pop it out when we come across something requiring a wide angle. In light room, i sometimes use the lens correction for the Rikonen 7.5mm lens, which works well if I don't want the fisheye effect.

A very nice lens!

I got this lens on March 11, 2022. A day or two later I took it for a spin around the park across the street. One thing I came to notice quickly is that the viewing angle is wide, very wide. If you point straight ahead your feet may be in the picture. But, that aside, I did get some very nice photos. In sum, I'm very happy with this purchase.

They have a 6-stop ND64, but they ended up not including it as part of the base package. Maybe they are planning to release a pack of filters later.

The TTArtisan 7.5mm f/2 Fisheye Lens with ND1000 Filter for Nikon Z will fit and work on the Nikon Z6. The lens is made for APS-C sensor so you will get a cropped image or a lot of vignette.

Yes this lens will fit, but it is intended for crop sensor/APS-C cameras not full frame. Because of that you will only get the crop sensor/APS-C framing and a reduced resolution (about 10mp).

Yes, it is a fish eye lens. On a full frame Nikon Z camera, it will be an actual round image and fisheye. And on a crop Nikon Z camera it will be fish eye but not round.
