Does Sony Alpha continuous auto-focus work with this lens? (e.g. to shoot birds in flight) The prior version did not.

Yes, the 150-600mm f/5-6.4 DG DN OS Sports for Sony E works incredibly well in AF-C with all current A7-series and A6X00 series cameras.

Does this new lens require the MC-11 adapter, or is this ready to go on Sony e mount, a9 body?
Asked by: Samantha
This lens has a direct Sony E-mount, therefore an adapter is not required for use with the Sony A9.

Up to now Sony does not allow 3rd party TC's, no third-party E-mount lens can work with teleconverters as that's one thing Sony won't license/permit to third party manufacturers so far. Will this change with this lens ?
Asked by: Joe
There has been no word yet from Sigma that they will be making a Teleconverter for the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports Lens for Sony E. As of now, nothing has been announced.

In my personal opinion, I would state the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports Lens may have an ever-so-slight edge in terms of sharpness & optical performance for your stated usage needs for birding and wildlife photography.

Sigma 150-600 or sony 200-600 for sony a7iii and ...

Sigma 150-600 or sony 200-600 for sony a7iii and why? Also my primary lens is a 24-70 so is it necessary to fill the gap?
Asked by: Srinesh
The Sigma 150-600mm and the Sony 200-600mm lenses are both excellent long telephoto zooms; the Sony lens has hundreds of excellent reviews, while the Sigma is too new to have reviews yet. It's a matter of personal taste, but either way, you can't go wrong. There is no need to have any lens you don't need to "fill in" a gap in coverage--almost no one needs to have every focal length represented in their kit.

Does the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports ...

Does the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports Lens for Sony E make loud clicking noises when in video AF-C mode? The EF mount Contemporary version makes a lot of noise as the lens is focus hunting in video AF-C mode. That noise is picked up by the camera's mic and recorded with the video. Is the noise "significantly" lower (i.e. silent) in the Sport E mount version since it uses a different style motor for focusing, or about the same as the EF mount Contemporary? Thank you.
Asked by: Ryan
Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports Lens for Sony E has a new updated and redesigned autofocus system offers both speed and precision by incorporating an AF actuator driven by a stepping motor which allow smooth and quite autofocus through all the autofocus mode and area in all Sony mirrorless cameras. If you own a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF and use the Sigma MC-11 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma EF-Mount Lenses to Sony E) you will noticed noise and vibration while using tracking focus. I will recommend maintaining the lens and adapter firmware's updated to insure the lens will focus as smooth as possible.

Does the Sport version for E mount work in tandem ...

Does the Sport version for E mount work in tandem with the a6600 IBIS? I recently bought the Contemporary version with the MC-11 adaptor for my a6600 and the IBIS is disabled, negating the reason I bought an a6600 in the first place. Also is the E mount version compatible with all AF settings of the a6600 in both stills and video mode? In other words, how true/close is the sigma E mount version to a native Sony lens? Does it retain AF tracking, etc. etc. Thank you in advance!
Asked by: Ryan
The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports Lens for Sony E OS will not work to increase the IBIS in the A6600. AF tracking does work.
