Atomos Ninja V+ Reviews
No Input all the time!
I bought this item on March 31st 2023, and tried to used it in April after it arrived, but it didn't work with Kondor Blue/ Undone full HDMI from my Sony a7SIII. I tried with my other HDMI cable and it keeps jumping back and forth from working and No Input. I have never had any problems with my previous Feel World monitor with both full hdmi cables. I bought the Atomos Ninja V+ so I also could record externally and in Apple ProRes. And now it's too late to return it or replace it as I also was very busy that period. It also starts to heat up very quickly, after like 5-10 minutes. I hope I can return it to Atomos directly as it's too late to return it to B&H.
so far so good
allOK
Great product and service
As usual BnH photo is a great company
Just indispensable!!!
This monitor is of very good quality. Very easy to use, the SmallRig cage and an AtomX SSD (or other) are essential.
Full 8K recording only with Canon R5
I read the performance and recording options for the Ninja V+ and bought it with the expectation that these would work with my Nikon Z9 camera. Later I found that the full output rates via HDMI only works with the Canon R5 , a couple other Canon camcorders, and a Fuji MFT camera. As 8K performance is throttled with the Z9 camera I will go back to shooting 4K 60p with my Shogun Inferno and return the Ninja V+.
Absolutely love it, needs NVME
I love the Atomos Ninja V but not sure why this hasn't been redesigned to support an NVME.
Ehh...
Im a little hot and cold with this. I got it to use with my Canon R5, and while it works well, there are a lot of little things that annoy me. First, no 4K120... If it can do 8KRAW, you would really think they could do 4K120. Next, if you want the footage to record ONLY to the Ninja, and not to the internal card also, you need to be shooting in RAW. Any other codec, and it records simultaneously to the NINJA + Internal card. Which kind of defeats the purpose... The files out of it are great, and when you need to be shooting RAW, it works phenomenal. But if your just shooting PRORES, I find it hard to justify the price (Which isn't bad, but you will need batteries, hard drives, mounts, cables, maybe a cage for your camera...)
So far OK
So far it seems to be working as expected. I ordered it and it came with a little scratch on the screen outside of the viewing area. I thought no big deal but I wanted to be perfect. I also noticed that the box didn't have a plastic wrap. So I sent it back because I thought it was a returned item. The other one they sent me didn't have a plastic wrap either and it has an even smaller scratch. It looks like it's from the manufacturer. I kept it. It's no big deal but if anyone is buying one and notices the same then don't be alarmed. Everything works on mine. Only problem is that Atomos Ninja V doesn't allow ProRes Raw from my Nikon Z9 yet. Hopefully there will be a firmware upgrade to allow this.
