Manfrotto Backloader Reviews

Chest Strap Detached From Bag

I do not recommend buying this camera bag. The chest strap on my bag detached from the bag on both sides and I cannot get it to reattach. I contacted Manfrotto twice through their customer service website and I finally received a response weeks later, and they refused to replace my bag. Manfrotto's customer service is terrible. Also the hip straps are very thin with no padding, and are uncomfortable due to the lack of padding.

Improved over previous version but not perfection

I really like some of the improvements over the ProLite Redbee 110 model. Here's what I see the pros and cons are for the Pro Light backloader 19L model: Pros: can fit my Nikon Z8 + long lens attached inside I like the new strap design for your shoulders, but it does have a tendency to be slippery and want to slide off your shoulders. The zipper pulls make is easy to unzip the bag I like the side handle for picking up and moving the bag The outer material seems to be pretty tough and semi waterproof Cons: The chest strap came off one of the plastic rails and it was a pain to get back on. The inside dividers are terrible. They are much more rigid than the previous model I had and not as much cushion material to soften an impact. Case in point, I had an UBER driver accidentally drop my bag out of the back of his SUV and it caused over $500 damage due to impact on my Nikon Z8. Also, the velcro doesn't stick as well as the older version, allowing the inside configuration to not stay put. The dividers have a recessed pattern design and there is less surface area for the velcro to stick properly. It's a much worse design in my opinion. I wish this pack had more room in it and I wanted to get the Medium size but it wasn't airline approved for carryon due to the size. Another issue I don't like is you can't get your camera out of the top zipper without a pulling and stretching the opening. It's such a nice feature to be able to pull your camera out of the bag in a standing up position without having to lay it down and open the whole back up. The opening is too small to do this without fighting with pulling your camera out of the opening. The lock seems like a good idea, but in reality it just adds extra weight. If someone is going to steal the bag, the lock won't be much of a deterrent. Overall I feel like some design elements got better with this version , but some got worse. You should evaluate what's important to you before purchasing a camera bag.

The overall compartment internal dimensions on the Manfrotto Pro Light Backloader 22.5L Camera Backpack (Medium) are 16.9 x 10.6 x 6.3". The Nikon NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Lens (Nikon Z) with lens hood on reverse is 12.4 x 5.5"; therefore, you will get enough space to fit the lens attached to a camera body.

Will the bag hold my 16 inch MacBook Pro ?
Asked by: Dariusz
The Manfrotto Pro Light Backloader 16L Camera Backpack (Medium) is designed for use with a laptop that has a 15-inch diagonal screen size. While it may be possible for a 16-inch MacBook Pro to fit inside the case, it may be a snug fit, and it may be hard to remove the laptop from the backpack.

Yes, it will fit. However, I would highly recommend laying the camera sideway. Pressure on the top handle can damage the pins of the Hotshoe.

Are there 2 side pockets, one for a tripod and one for water bottle?
Asked by: Nancy
Yes, this is how I use my 19L back. Compact tripod on one side, and a 17 oz S'well water bottle on the other. But be mindful that large diameter bottle won't fit. I have a larger Hydro Flask that didn't fit.
