Featuring an updated optical design and refined focusing system, the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is a Sony E-mount zoom offering a versatile wide-to-portrait-length range and bright f/2.8 maximum aperture. Revamped optics yield higher resolution and improved sharpness over the previous generation and the focusing system has been replaced with a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) mechanism that achieves faster, more precise performance to suit both stills and video applications. As the second generation of this popular lens, this updated version also sees refinements to the exterior design of the lens, a closer minimum focusing distance of 7.1", and a new connector port for streamlining the process of working with Tamron Lens Utility software to adjust lens settings.
  • Versatile standard zoom designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras but can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 42-112.5mm equivalent focal length range.
  • Bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture affords consistent illumination throughout the zoom range and also affords greater control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
  • Improved optical design increases resolution and enhances imaging performance.
  • VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism provides fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance throughout the zoom range.
  • Minimum focusing distance of just 7.1" and a 1:2.7 maximum magnification for working with close-up subjects.
  • Updated ergonomic design for improved operability.
  • Connector port works in conjunction with Tamron Lens Utility software for customizing lens functions and updating firmware through the lens rather than through the camera.

I bought this lens because it's a Tamron VXD lens and honestly, it didn't disappoint. Focus is smooth and build is striaght to the point. Nice one Tamron, we are looking forward to a 16 - 28mm VXD G2 lens however

This Camera such a good start for beginners with perfect amount of zoom for wide shots and up close !! With a aperture of 2.8 to really let that light in dos the job very well for low light! Also the fact you cab zoom without the aperture changing is a plus !! Huge shoutout to The man at sony station for helping me find this lens also a body sony A7C i think his name is Leo! Upgraded from prior version. I think it is noticeable sharper. Also has other features such as plug-in firmware update, lens focus button, etc.

Focus is faster than the original version of this lens, which I also now . Much better build quality, much stiffer so the focus doesn't bump out so easy. Not sure about the open port but time will tell. Very quick and speedy delivery.

I am a hobbyist who primarily wants to photograph kids/family. Excellent, fast lens for most situations (nearly always f2.8).

Too many good things to say about this lens! As anyone starting off in the professional photo/video industry. This a must have lens especially for the price. The focal length is extremely versatile for all situations, especially when you are in run and gun situations. I'm a wedding photographer/videographer and this lens stays on my camera for 95% of the time. Extremely sharp and great in low light. Highly recommend this lens for anyone.

I am thinking about buying the TAMRON 28-75mm 2.8 or the Sigma 24-70mm lens. Which one is better? I have a SONY A6100. Thanks
Asked by: Harvey
The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E and the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Lens (Sony E) are sharp lenses. The Sigma 24-70mm is better for the Sony a6100 Mirrorless Camera because it offers a wide angle of view.
