  • Versatile standard zoom designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras but can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 42-112.5mm equivalent focal length range.
  • Bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture affords consistent illumination throughout the zoom range and also affords greater control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
  • Improved optical design increases resolution and enhances imaging performance.
  • VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism provides fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance throughout the zoom range.
  • Minimum focusing distance of just 7.1" and a 1:2.7 maximum magnification for working with close-up subjects.
  • Updated ergonomic design for improved operability.
  • Connector port works in conjunction with Tamron Lens Utility software for customizing lens functions and updating firmware through the lens rather than through the camera.

Awesome for the Sony A7 IV

I recently made the switch to Sony Full Frame from my trusty A6600 and I'm blown away with what a great Full Frame sensor can do, especially with the new A7 IV. The new G2 Tamron is razor sharp and feels perfectly balanced attached to my camera. This is the first Tamron I've owned and I am really impressed with the quality and value. I had the option to go with the Sigma 24-70 FE, but decided to save some cash and get this one instead. I'm happy with my decision.

This second gen 28-75 is absolutely beautiful. The new design feels better in my hands and looks better also. The programmable button is a nice touch for sure! Great for focus locking! The lens is way more compact and lighter than the previous version, which is perfect. With that the lens from 28-50 almost feels like it has internal zoom. You don't notice the lens extend till a little passed that. Overall pics are sharp, quiet motor, lightning fast auto focus. My new overall go to lens for sure!

Perfect Everyday Carry!

The perfect lens minus 24mm. I have found that I don't often miss out on on the wide end not having 24mm. I typically use this as my everyday carry because it's light and versatile. But it is sharp, and the bokeh is so much better than the previous generation. Glad I got this lens.

Great lens. Mainly using it for video and it's been holding up just fine!

At less than half the price as the GM but almost the same quality, you can't go wrong with this lens. I had the previous version of this Tamron lens. This is definitely a step up!

Outstanding

This lens is sharp and the AF is fast and reliable. I did not own the version one but did have the Sigma 24-70 and I prefer this lens by far over that one. In side by side tests with the 70-200 GM I it's equally sharp and focuses faster.

I've been using this lens for around four months, and I'm really happy with it. I've never owned a Tamron lens before. Using it with a Sony a7iii for video and photo work. I usually don't use autofocus for video, but I've been happy with how quickly this lens chooses the right subject to focus on.

Killer All-In-One Lens

BLUF: Great lens, great price, great performance I'm a huge fan of versatility, so the Tamron 28-75 made a lot of sense for me. Fast aperture for low-light situations & portrait work, focal lengths for most shoots, and great overall sharpness from corner to corner. Not to mention this lens is super lightweight making it great for carrying around all day or gimbal work. The autofocus is very fast, though I do find it hunting every now and then. However, I chalk that up to operator error more than anything else. I've attached some of the shots I've picked up with the lens since acquiring it and I have to say, I'm super happy with the images. 75mm is close enough to 85mm to make standard portraits actually look like portraits, and 28mm is wide enough to capture plenty of context in an image. Lens is sharp up and down the aperture range, and handles vibration very well. Overall, I highly recommend this lens to anyone that needs a good run-and-gun lens, or you're starting out with your first.
