Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD Reviews
Great concert lens

I bought this lens to shoot a concert at The Whiskey A Go Go. I was running around all over the venue. This was the perfect lens to get around ion the floor with the crowd, shoot from the sides of the stage or from the balcony. 35mm proved to right amount of wide angle for my needs and anything up to 150 worked well from further back. It was quite versatile. Upon reviewing the pictures they look sharp as my GM lenses. In this situation, I had no flare issues either. I would recommend this lens for video too. I was using an A7R4a camera body with this lens at full resolution.

I debated investing in a 50mm prime (Sony GM) or this lens, and I'm glad I got the Tamron. With my 16-35 GM and this lens, I cover every focal range I need, short of wildlife photography. The build quality of this lens is top notch. Yes, it's a bit heavy, but considering it can take the place of 6 prims (35,50,85,100,135 and 150), it's amazing. Image quality is superb, autofocus is as fast as my 16-35 2.8GM and the range is everything you need for wedding and event photography.
A Game Changer (in spite of known focal length and weight)

This lens is nothing short of a game changer. I think it is pretty silly to say that this lens any less than that because it doesn't cover the 24mm-34mm range or because it is heavy. Yes, if you are working with this lens all night long, you will definitely feel its weight, but as a walk around lens (i.e. you are not handholding it for hours on end), then the weight is perfectly ok. It's weight is in the same ballpark as your average 70-200 f/2.8 lens. For me, this lens allows me to cover the 16-150mm range with two lenses instead of three, and it covers the my most used focal lengths with a single lens, so if I am feeling lazy, I will just carry this lens, and if I really need the extra reach, I will carry another body with a 16-35mm lens. Sure, the Sony 24-240mm (terrible IQ) or the Tamron 28-200 (good-ish IQ) cover more range, but not even the Tamron 28-200 comes close to the image quality of the 35-150. For an almost all-in-one lens, nothing beats this guy. It is also super fast to focus. If I could only have one lens, it would probably be the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 G2, because yes, weight does matter, but if I could only take one lens on vacation, I would always pick the 35-150. And for professional gigs, I am happy to take both. If I get tired of the 35-150, I switch to the 28-75 for a while and when my arm is rested I go back to the 35-150. In spite of the weight, it is still a game changer.

I am really big on using native glass. But the specs and prior reviews of this lens made me try it and I'm never looking back! This lens is amazingly sharp, fast focusing, near silent and offers an incredible focal range. I have used this lens in low light, in the studio and Indoors/outdoors on a recent vacation. The images are as sharp, if not sharper than flagship glass from Nikon or Canon. And I do not say that lightly! Tamron has blown me away with this lens. The caveat - It is a very large and heavy lens. It is a tad heavier than the coveted 70-200 2.8. But, being f2.0 at the wide end, the fantastic focal range, the incredible image sharpness and build quality, this lens will stay in my bag forever.
A lil heavy but really good.

I have a lot of lenses, including a 24-105F4 (Sony) which i like to take because its pretty sharp, its light and quite versatile. However, it falls short in low light or not all that great for portraits (even at 105mm).
The Tamron lens is an interesting compromise, at 35-150mm F2-2.8 you get better Bokeh, significantly better low light, in exchange for a slightly, arguably more useful range, and a good bit more weight.
It's on the edge of acceptable weight for an everything-lens when you're just taking one or two for vacations, but the quality is absolutely there. My copy is very sharp, too.
At the end of the day I'm now using this with 1 small prime lens (14mm or 24mm usually) when I don't want to carry too much and I don't have a specific goal in mind. It makes better pictures. I like it. The same quality at a lighter weight would be exceptional.

Great image quality, small package (comparing taking lenses having ~2.8 aperture and equivalent focal length coverage), up-to-date functionality and autofocus performance, great build quality.
I don't need to purchase any other lenses, maybe get a renter when I want to do milky way or wildlife. If it has IS and Tamron style removable tripod collar, it will be the greatest lens for 95% of photo-taking tasks.

I am a hobby photographer and was interested in getting better glass for multiple purposes (portrait, landscape, street, daily kid captures, etc.). Reviewing many articles and videos, I decided to take a chance with this lens and I am beyond happy I did. I initially purchased the 18-300 to get a full range from macro to telephoto, but indoor photography was not great at higher ISO. I also purchased the 150-500 for animal and astrophotography, but portability is not great. The 35-150 is portable enough to stay on my a7iv (for me, the weight is not an issue), and covers a range which minimizes the need for my other two lenses but the trio covers all aspects I need.
The Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 is my new standard lens which will not be removed from my kit anytime soon.

I own the Sony A1. Lens works perfectly, and very happy with the results. But I haven't been out on a real photo trip yet, so my experience is limited, But love it so far.
