LG 40WP95C-W Reviews

Broke down in month 6; let's see if they fix it

The monitor stopped functioning after 6 months and showed no images on the screen. Called LG and they sent a mailing label and I've yet to hear back on the return date (it has been a week).

Maximum real estate!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This monitor has changed my way of productivity in a good way. Two computers at once is awesome. Picture quality is good, sound is ok but it there if you don’t have external speakers. Bery happy

Great resolution and color

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great minimalist setup monitor for a programmer. I do agree with another review, the speaker on this is not a necessary feature for a monitor. The speakers don’t sound good so I’m surprised that it’s listed as a main feature. The base stand is awesome. I use a arm mount but even I can appreciate the design of the stand. I can’t see the difference over 65hz and this monitor satisfies that requirement. VESA mounting will be an issue for some because the screw hole area is at a level lower than the rest of the back. The brightness could be an issue but the max fine for me in a dark room. My ask for next iteration product would be to add risers for VESA mounting, a few more usbc tb4 ports and a brighter nit screen. Maybe even have an option to exclude the base stand. I’ve bought a lot of lg monitors over the years and I never use their stands long term. They’re not reusable when you upgrade too. I’ve been using the same arm for over a decade now. As great as the stand is for this particular monitor, I still prefer a fully adjustable arm. I’m actually considering buying another to chain but I’m sure 1 is more than enough for most.

Not "perfect" spec

Needs: more Hz for gamers (72 is on low side now) Gsync version Unnecessary expense: speakers (people have 5.1, 2 with more watts, or headphones)

Very nice, HUGE, super sharp, just a little dim

A wonderful monitor this gives you a feel of a 32 inch 4K display but widened to 40 inches. Essentially, it gives you an extra 1/3 of a display, or about 7 horizontal inches, which comes in extremely useful when working or editing. I am using it with a M1 Max Mac Studio and a 16 M1 Max MacBook Pro. I had a LG model very similar to this prior, and that's exactly what it looks like but wider, and with slightly more refresh rate. It is basically as close to retina as you can get without getting one of Apple's 6K displays at nearly 4x the cost, and it is much larger than the 27 5K Studio Display they sell, at the same cost, with nearly equal sharpness. It displays 98% of DCI P3 which is outstanding color. and it is pre-calibrated. The display is also a Thunderbolt 4 hub, with an extra TB port for USB-C or Thunderbolt 4 devices (or daisy chaining), two USB-A 3.1 ports with power. two HDMI 2 and a DP 1.4 jack. Plus it provides 96W of power to an attached Mac. It has become my TB hub as well. The speakers are also surprisingly decent. Not as good as Apple's in the Studio Display or old iMac Pro, but vastly better than the 32 LG I replaced it with. They are indeed serviceable, with decent range and they get very loud. The only issue is it's not very bright. 300 nits. This leaves out HDR and is quite disappointing for a monitor of this cost. It's fine - it works in a room with an open window and lights on and it works very well in a controlled light space, but if you need something brighter it won't work. The brightness is the only disappointment. Other than that, it's quite good. The 72 Hz little boost is noticeable and a little smoother than the 60 used to have and the Studio Display has. The sharpness is extremely high and while it's not exactly fully retina at 200+ dpi, the 150 or so it has does the job from a few feet away. Highly recommended.

Beautiful display with misses

I didn't bother to check before I ordered it but I can't believe a monitor at this price point doesn't have an ethernet port. Especially one that is marketed as a true thunderbolt display. Also the HDR settings look like garbage and all colors are washed out. Had to turn that off. I was shocked when I realized that was already on by default because everything looked so bad. Maybe I got a bad unit, but colors and contrast look way better with HDR off.

Nice and Big!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice, Bright and big, I like the format of the monitor as wide screen movies play very nicely. The monitor has some great connectivity TB4, DisplayPort and HDMI. The monitor appears to be built well, I wish the stand were more compact as it does take a lot of desk space - the design is nice looking but would be nice if the stand didn't hog so much of the Desk. All in all it's a great purchase, the resolution is sharp, plays well with the mac, and the curvature is not overwhelming.
