pixl-latr Film Holder for Digitizing/Scanning Overview

If you've ever tried to digitise a negative or transparency with a digital camera, you'll know that two of the biggest headaches are keeping the film in place and flat and backlighting it in a uniform manner. pixl-latr is a low cost, simple but effective film holder for solving both of these problems when digitising 35mm, 120 (up to 6x12), and 5x4 film formats.

Since launching pixl-latr, we have made three key improvements to the design - v1.3 benefits from all of these improvements. It doesn't get any easier to digitize a film image to a printable digital file. Directions are clear, all the parts fit well and with a simple light source you are in business. It' a slow procedure, one negative at a time, and that is what it was designed for. Simple and it works and it get's an A from me. Jack

The Pixl-Ater works fine with flat negatives but won't stay closed with my father's WWII negatives (some historically significant) that curled after decades in storage. The solution? Magnetic strips keep the Pixl-Ater closed and allow it to open slightly when inserting strips of 35mm negatives. I have had success using this with an inexpensive light board, FF, and 100mm macro.
