Xencelabs BPH1212W Reviews

Quick keys noit ready for prime time

2nd time I have tried to review. Last one did not show up here. I bought the tablet and quick keys bundle here on B+H and the tablet itself is fine works great. The quick keys though are very glitchy on a bunch of stuff and the main reason I bought this version was that I like using the scroll/spin wheel to resize my brush/healing/cloning and that is unusable. when you try and use the ring. You get random brush strokes/circles in you files instead of just resizing. And if you do not notice right away you have trashed a lot of work. Spent about a month back and forth with support with no help except them thinking it could be electro-magnetic interference on my desk top. And all I have on my desktop is a computer ,monitor and speakers. I finaly gave up and told them to close out the support request. And the person sent last email saying sorry it doesn't work and he said he has others with same issues and no one can figure it out. So if you just need the tablet and pen buy that one. but unless you want to be a beta tester for free on a glitchy product do not get the version with the quick keys.

The Xencelabs tablet is terrific. I had a Wacom Intuous Pro and the Xencelabs is a much improved experience. Some of my problem with the Wacom was I had the small size which made precise movements difficult. I have the Xencelabs medium and it is much easier to make precise adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop. Note in order to have scrolling capability with the Xencelabs you have to get the bundle with the Quick Keys Remote. I highly recommend this product.

Brilliant except for work in Capture One

I love the tablet. It is as good as the Wacom in my opinion but the Wacom has more features that I don't really need. I was disappointed when I tried using it in Capture One on Windows. The buttons on the pen don't work at all unless you disable Windows Ink but then you lose pen pressure. So you can't have both in Capture One and you really need working buttons for brush size shortcuts and more so pen pressure is not an option for me. I contacted Xencelabs and they said this was an issue that needs to be resolved with the developers at Capture One. This issue made me consider returning the tablet and getting the Wacom but in the meantime my kids damaged the packaging so I can't do that. In conclusion, great tablet but does not work as intended in Capture One. Would be 5 stars if Xencelabs could work this out with the people at C1

A solid Wacom alternative at a great price

I'm a graphic designer with decades of drawing tablet experience. The best tablets have been Wacom for build quality, feel, and driver reliability. This tablet replaces my Wacom Intuos Pro Touch tablet. The build quality of the Xencelabs tablet is on par with the Wacom. The bundled stylii and controller provide excellent versatility and much more performance value than Wacom. The Xencelabs driver adds a feature I've asked of Wacom for many years - you can save custom settings and even share them. There's no way to do that via the Wacom driver. I do think there's some room for improvement on the Xencelabs driver. I'd like better click and double-click sensitivity and better mouse mode handling of a dual screen desktop where one screen is landscape and the other is portrait. I haven't had time yet to delve into customizing the Quick Keys.

Works great. Using it with a brand new MacBook Pro M1-Max. Using it with both Affinity Photo and Capture One.

I like this tablet better than Wacom tablets

I am a digital artist in New York City famous for the Drunk History visuals I made for Comedy Central. The Xencelabs company was created by former Wacom people who believed they could make a better tablet and they have. The annoying Wacom Express Keys are gone. The Xencelabs plastic drawing surface feels more like natural paper/canvas, and there are two pens included. I like the skinnier one best. Overall the Xencelabs tablet is more sensitive and responsive when used with the Photoshop brush engine. I am never going back to a Wacom again. Rick Schwab

Best tablet ever

I have had two other tablets in the past. One Wacom and one IP-Pen. The medium Xencelabs tablet is the best I have ever used and comes with two pens an added plus.

Amazing. I've owned so many Wacoms and other third parties

This is the one to beat Wacom. Don't bother with other third party tablets as they are typically not worth it vs a Wacom (poor design, and horrible, horrible drivers) But the Xencelabs? None of those issues. Works just as well as all my Wacoms from the past 20 years. The software is easy to use (like it more than Wacoms) the dual pens are a treat. I HIGHLY recommend this tablet.

How well does this tablet work on a dual monitor setup running different apps on each monitor?
Asked by: Larry
The drivers for this tablet are designed to adjust the drawing area to the aspect ratio of a single monitor. It would be possible to use the tablet as a simple input device without the drivers, which would enable it to work with multiple monitors, but accuracy would be reduced and you would not see its full potential.
