GVM SD200D Overview

The GVM app lets you control the unit over Bluetooth right from your smartphone. One or more devices can be controlled simultaneously. Besides that, you can make quick changes locally using the stepless adjustment dial and its LCD display. For advanced users and more complex studio setups, the SD200D also enables DMX-512 control mode with 8-bit precision. The unit is 180° tilt-adjustable with an included yoke and runs on universal 100 to 240 VAC. Bowens compatibility allows it to be used with a wide range of modifiers.

I wanted something Smaller than the SmallRig lights I'm using for studio work, and thought this would fit the the bill. Compared to the SmallRig RC 350D, this feels much lighter in terms of construction, and seems pretty underpowered, especially if I am not using a reflector. It would probably be fine for video work on a budget, and for the money, is a decent deal. Don't expect high lumen output for a main light source, but as a small fill light, it is fine.

At 20' to 30 ' the beam from this 40° reflector will be quite large. Using a projection attachment like the Godox BLP LED Projection Attachment for Bowens will help you achieve the spotlight effect you want.
