For content creators, videographers, and interviewers at all levels, the JOBY Wavo AIR digital true wireless microphone system offers relieving simplicity, confidence-inspiring sound quality, and all the elements needed to easily record two subjects to a camera or mobile device. The transmitters not only work with the supplied external lavalier mics, but also feature built-in omni mic capsules so they can be used as wire-free, clip-on microphones.

With its ultracompact components and ready-from-the-factory operability, the entire system is designed to be sleek, small, and user-friendly. Setting the Wavo AIR apart from products in the same class are the highly versatile mounting options (some included and others available separately), which enable placement of the Wavo AIR on anything from clothing or a camera shoe to a pole or tripod. Whether powered by the internal 6-hour batteries or via USB Type-C, the transmitters and receiver can keep you company for plenty of shoots.

Ready Out of the Box for 2-Person Shoots

Complete with two wireless transmitters that have built-in omni mics, two lavalier microphones, and an ultracompact dual-channel receiver, the interview-ready Wavo AIR makes it easy for content creators to record two subjects to a camera or smartphone. Plus, it includes indoor and outdoor wind protection to keep wind rustling noise out of the signal.

High Quality and Hands Free

The Wavo AIR brings crisp and clear sound free from wires and over a distance that can't be covered by shotgun mics or built-in mics on cameras and smartphones.

Connect and Shoot

Since the transmitters and receiver are pre-paired before they leave the factory, the Wavo AIR won't slow you down when you need to set up fast. Don't worry about weaving through menus or switching channels or frequencies; the system is made to work for you, out of the box.

Cables for Mobile or Mirrorless

The Wavo AIR is supplied with TRS (for cameras) and TRRS (for mobile devices) audio cables, the receiver's 3.5mm output can be connected to virtually any imaging hardware.

JOBY WAVO AIR Reviews

Perfect for content creators

As a content creator, I needed a simple yet effective mic system without all the cables and long setup for on the go shooting. I was excited when B&H reached out and wanted to send me this in exchange for my honest review. It's perfect for quick video with minimal set up. Quality audio for the price of the kit. My biggest drawback is that you cannot split the separate lavs into 2 different tracks like some other comparable lav systems. Overall a good find.

I did a test run on these before using them for content so, I feel like I can give a solid review on the mics. I think these are pretty good for a beginner in content creating. You have two wireless, with lavs, cords, etc. I will not lie, I was a little concerned with the quality of all the plastic pieces. I felt like I was putting together a toy set, but I was mindful not to drop Andy thing because I was afraid it would snap/break. So the units are light weight. The plastic is...well, plastic. But the mic quality is holding its own. I was a bit surprised when I put my test footage into post to check sound quality. It's not going to knock your socks off. No. But I think for beginners who are starting out and gaining momentum with content, this is a good starter package. Fiddle around with your sound in and audio program though. Y'all may think I'm corny because the two cannot be compared-but I'm used to using RODE wireless microphones. Does that make this Joby set obsolete. no. These are pretty good, but I prefer the other brand over these. But like I said, it's affordable for two set ups in the box with clips, lavs, etc. You aren't necessarily losing at all. It's just if you want that super polished sound, you can put these in the cart as an option for price point sale but if you have a few extra dollars, I'd say keep searching a little bit longer and do a good comparison analysis based on reviews here and on YouTube.

Before this I was wondering if more expensive microphone brands are worth it. I have only used Boya corded mic and when time came I wanted to upgrade to a wireless mic, so I bought Boya as well, partially because the corded mic was decent and the price (I think $70) was okay, but the mic was really bad in terms of audio performance and just using it! This Joby microphone is amazing - it pairs on its own, it is small and has different attachments (to secure it to the clothing) depending on what you're filming and you can start using it with a push of a button and the sound quality is great! I have already filmed and edited a video using it and I love it! I am not an expert in microphones - but this one does the job so easily and so well, that I would totally recommend it! Pros - - small - multiple attachments - easy to work with - instructions on charging and using are simple - sound quality is great Cons - - not aware of any as of this moment

Pretty Okay Mic

So I used the mic on my camera (sony a7ii) and it was pretty good. Like the sound wasn't spectacularrrr but it did its job. It was clear enough for everything going on towards the mic and when I accidentally dropped my tv tray table near me it didnt pick up too much of that sound (I was impressed by that.) I think this would be good for beginners or folks who need a little pick me up on their videos. Another thing is the packaging and product design; it's great and convenient. I enjoyed having the detachable clip that snaps right into the back and the size of the transmitters. The whole thing is light and easy to work with which makes it convenient. Now is it worth $250? no...maybe a good 75 to 100 dollars.

This might answer a few of the unknowns...

Unfortunately buying this early before there were any reviews left a few questions unanswered. I was curious if this would split the audio in to right and left channels. It does not. Unfortunately both wireless signals are brought in and merged at the camera or recording source and there is no way to keep them separate. This can be a big problem if there is unwanted noise that comes from one of the channels and the feed from the other one is perfect (i.e. the other person is coughing or sneezes or they say something that you want to cut out while the other person is still talking, etc...). The other issue is charging everything. This is something that looks like DJI thought of with their system but Joby did not. This set comes with 3 charging cables and no charge plugs which means that you have to have a 3 port charger of your own or 3 individual ones or 3 unused ports on your computer, you get the point... or charge them individually, eesh. And that is 3 more cables and chargers that you have to carry with this kit. I knew this going in to buying this, but I still have no idea why they made the mics have a red top. I want this to be as inconspicuous as possible at all times without always having to use the lavalier (it is nice that they provide two of those tho!) Lastly- a little thing but kinda important too, the cold shoe mount for the receiver is poorly designed. It just slides in to the shoe on your camera or recording device and doesn't tighten down at all, allowing it to wiggle loose if you are shooting hand held and can fall out. I would prefer to have a 1/4 adapter instead that would allow me to use a cold shoe mount that I could tighten down. I really like the price and idea of this kit, but unfortunately there are too many things about it that would be tough to make me keep it for professional use.

Amazing professional set, simple use, good quality sound

I received this product in exchange for my honest review. As a journalist, I ordered this set for days in which I have to go out and shoot interviews or do live-hits without a professional cameraman. This set is easy to operate and charges for full 2 hours! The neck microphones pick up lots of sound and are better to use for sit-down interviews, although I did use them for outdoor live-hits as well and it was good enough to be aired on TV. I am not at all a technical person and was therefore excited about how easy it is to work with this equipment. It comes in a very convenient and organized package with simple instructions. It easily connects to an iPhone for high quality recordings.

Pros: lavs are lightweight, easy to use for beginners, come with accessories, decent sound for the price point! I think these are great for beginners, basic videography, interviews, social media recording. If you're looking for professional film recording with lavs, these aren't as powerful as some of the more recognized brands.

Work with iPhone wirelessly?

Work with iPhone wirelessly?
Asked by: Mark
Yes, the JOBY Wavo AIR 2-Person Digital Wireless Lavalier Microphone System can be used with an iPhone. The transmitters send audio wirelessly to the receiver which connects to the iPhone with a cable. You can use the included 3.5mm TRS to TRRS receiver output cable combined with the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H # APLAADAP) or as another option, just use the Comica Audio CVM-D-SPX(MI) 3.5mm TRS Male to Lightning Output Cable for Audio to iPhone (B&H # COCVMDSPXMI).

Can someone explain why they would make half of it red and not all black?
Asked by: Jake
I thought at first the color would be a problem - however, they are a lot easier for me to find them when I am shooting multiple 2-4 person conversations for training purposes. I also use Picogear, which I really like, but it has been hard to keep track of the transmitters. Joby solved a lot of the color problem by including a lavalier mic when I want the mike to be more discreet. I am very happy!

Does anyone know how transferring files works?

Does anyone know how transferring files works?
Asked by: Alejandro
There is no file transferring with the JOBY Wavo AIR 2-Person Digital Wireless Lavalier Microphone System because it does not record anything. You would connect it to the microphone input on a camera, or a mobile device, or a portable digital audio recorder and it would record audio files to that device. You would connect a USB cable to that device after you are done recording, to move the recorded files from that device into your computer.

The receiver in the JOBY Wavo AIR 2-Person Digital Wireless Lavalier Microphone System (2.4 GHz) can connect to a maximum of two transmitters at one time. Increasing the number of transmitters would require more receivers to accommodate them.
