Godox V860III Reviews

Impressive flash for a better price

This flash uses a rechargeable lithium battery so you don't need to mess with AAs. I really like being able to control other Godox lights like a transmitter and it responds well to using it off camera. I had a couple of hick-ups early on using it in conjunction with other lights but that may have been user error. The location of the modeling light was actually beneficial to how I was using it and helped my camera get a good focus lock on subjects in a dark area while the flash head wasn't pointed directly at them. I need to put it through its paces more and do some direct comparisons to my Nikon speedlights, but so far I like it.

Doesn't synch well with Canon T8i

I have tried it and it doesn't synch up well with the Canon t8i. I took it to the camera store, thinking it was my Canon - and they tried it with a brand new Canon T8i - same thing. It always over exposes the flash setting. I finally figured an ETTL -3 setting worked. But you will always be adjusting and compensating for the system.

Got this flash because my other two flashes kept missing shots. After getting this flash, well two of them, I realized what I was missing. They are a bit pricey but you pay for that reliable. Certainly worth

Godox Ving860III - Tremendous!

I purchased two of these with ballheads and flash stands for Archival photography (Sony a7r iv). I'm recording prints of a renowned photographer/ cinematographer. These work perfectly with a Godox transmitter on the camera (rx setting). Instructions are not great as usual for godox devices. You will not be disappointed with this flash however. Rgp

I Really Good Flash for My Pana G85

This flash has everything I need in a flash...and more!! I needed to replace the onboard flash of my Pana G85 and wanted the options available, including remote operation, that this flash offers. I'm not sure why many people don't care for the modelling light but I've found it very useful.

Better than expected

I bought two of these for a wedding last week after searching all over the place for Nikon brand speed lights. I have to say I do not regret my purchase at all. These speed lights are incredible. The Li-Ion batteries give you a fast cycle time and last a very long time between charges.

Love it but no TTL HSS when using with Canon R5/ R6

By Sarah

I really wanted to like this flash. (Love the recycle time, great battery life, quick switch from TTL to manual and how it can work with the other flashes in the godox line via their triggers etc,) but if you use this with the Canon R5 / R6, the HSS does NOT work in TTL mode. It will only fire at 100% output @ 1/250 or faster. (Yes, you can adjust the flash compensation to -3 and correct the exposure when at 1/250 sec but you are limited only to 1/250 sec. since the flash exposure compensation is limited to -3 when in TTL.) Many vendors list it as fully compatible and would not give me a straight answer so I contacted Godox directly to see if they were working on a fix for this and they said that they are aware but are working on it. So there is no ETA for a fix. This obviously will not be a deal breaker from everyone but since I shoot events I am really disappointed that I can only use this great flash in the evenings. Using this flash as a ETTL daylight fill is not possible with my cameras. Tip- look at Godox's website directly to view the actual list of cameras that are 100% fully compatible, before you buy.

The V860III takes the same battery as (and is interchangeable with) the V1, the VB26A. It does not share/take batteries from the V860II or the AD100. See Godox's website for further clarification if necessary.

Can you charge the battery by plugging USB-C power directly into the USB-C port rather than the just the external charger? Manual only mentions the port is for firmware updates. Hoping I won't need to take the charger everywhere and can charge the battery directly in the flash.
Asked by: Kirk
Just tested a unit. You can only charge the battery by pulling it out and using the external charger. The USB-C port on the flash itself isn't very useful. Kind of a waste for it to be there for only firmware updates. Oh well.
