Offering a natural perspective along with a fast maximum aperture, the XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR from FUJIFILM is a 50mm-equivalent lens characterized by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture. This design benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field for isolating subject matter and using selective focus techniques. The optical design employs two aspherical elements, which reduces distortion and spherical aberrations in order to achieve higher sharpness and accurate rendering. Three ED elements are also featured, which reduce flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. This ensures unmatched resolution and fresh, vibrant color.

FUJIFILM XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR Reviews
Not replacing my 35mm f/1.4
A very nice lens. Well built. Renders beautifully up close. Not amazed by performance at longer distances like trying to get a whole stage at a school play. Focuses very quickly. Overall I will keep it but it won't totally replace my old 35mm f/1.4.
Optical advances paid off!
So far using this lens for landscape and street, I'm constantly amazed at the way this Len's renders out of focus areas defining in focus areas. In manual focus, I don't have a Fujinon lens that is as definitive and easy to focus as this 23mm and the 33mm. Try manual focusing this lens it's so easy it reminds me of my old Nikkor manual lenses in its manual focus speed.
Ditch the kit zoom and pick a prime instead
The quality is amazing on this lens and still compact albeit larger than other fuji lenses. I plan for this to be my only lens for at least a year to learn the focal length. I couldn't be happier with deciding on this particular lens compared to the other fuji 35mm options. I cannot see myself outgrowing it any time soon.
Works amazing on X-H2S!
I upgraded from the beloved 35/1.4, which is still magical for its own right, but it's just not great for tracking AF for AF-C, like when people are walking towards you (ie. processional during a wedding ceremony). The weakness was not apparent on X-T3, but really noticeable on the much improved X-H2S. This 33/1.4 with the Linear Motor helps a ton! It's quick and quiet, and reliable. I will settle the bigger size and weight for the improvement (from 35/1.4) in AF.
I have and shoot the 35mm f2 version for a number of years. Its my go to focal length. Now this 33 has completely replaced it. Yes, a little bigger/heavier but I find it handles better in my hands. I love the creative options f1.4 gives me and find the pics just have more pop than my 35 f2. Sunstar's are great also with typical excellent build. I love it and now will get the 23mm 1.4 II to replace my f2... if the benefits are the same, im in.
A very nice 50mm equivalent lens. Sharp and fast to focus.
When it comes to image quality, I have some fairly high expectations. Prior to dipping my toes into fuji land I had (and still have) the nikon D850, D810 and numerous gold ring nikon glass that was some of the best they ever made for their f mount lineup. Because of this I waa hesitant to jump back to a crop sensor (X-T4) and this lens, but i took the plunge as I wanted a fun every day camera for family and light travel stuff. Needless to say, this lens has blown my expectations out of the water!! It's insanely sharp at all apertures throughout the entire frame and has no CA issues whatsoever. I have never experienced a crop sensor camera and lens combo this disgustingly good. To the point where I've considered selling my nikon gear as it does far more dust collecting nowadays! Now it's time for me to go post this same review on the fuji 23 1.4 LM lens as that one is equally as incredible! Safe to say that fuji has blown me away with these beautiful works of art! Keep up the great work fuji!!!
This is an absolutely outstanding lens. I have the 35mm f/2 which I use on an X-E3 for a walk around kit. That lens is solid, but I bought this lens for the extra f stop and sharper corners. The 33mm is well built, silent, fast, and accurate autofocus and stunning bokeh. It is a strong step above the very solid f/2. Highly recommended.
