TCL Linkhub Mesh Reviews
No way to reach TCL to troubleshoot
When you try to reach support, the TCL Linkhub is not among the options supported. WiFi is not mentioned. They make a lot of products, but this one is an orphan. Positives - easy setup, fast Internet through a two story house..no dead spots. Unobtrusive. Negatives - So far, one email app was killed -- Android based. The email still works in the browser...so there is some issue with ??? because the email app works with other WIFi systems in town. BIG negative. On three Samsung devices -- all with current versions of Skype... Skype can receive messages but cannot send them. Some unique portal configuration, perhaps? Don't know because I can't reach TCL.
Well worth the price
I bought these to help with Tablo system that kept buffering and it worked like a charm. I highly recommend this system. Just know that one of the cube will need to connect to the modem leaving only one cube for the rest of the house
Nice, but... meh.
Almost everything about these is well-executed. Installation and setup is easy, the app is decent (although something browser-based would be better), the cube form factor doesn't scream electronic equipment and the spare LAN jack is handy for plugging in something wired. Coverage is good, too; the signal anywhere in the house is always strong and all three of the mesh points reported strong connections among themselves. The one down side of these is a huge dealbreaker: I couldn't get my devices (phones, tablets, TVs, thermostat) to reliably stay connected. Despite showing a full-strength signal, most of my devices would drop off and reconnect on a fairly regular basis, sometimes taking long enough to interrupt streaming video and make web browsing less than seamless. This seemed to happen more with devices connected to the secondary points, which is just as bad as the dead or weak spots I bought these to solve. I brought the firmware up to the latest during installation and disabling fast roaming didn't help. After living with that for a week, I'm sorry to report that they're going back.
Easy to install.
It's easy to install and set up. So far it is working as expected.
It works and easy to install
very happy with the product. it works fast and easy to install. great value.
Great economy mesh wifi
For the price, maybe the best mesh Wi-Fi on the market. Easy setup, great coverage, and for $60 you can't beat the price. Didn't have any problems setting the Wi-Fi up, and the auto detect / auto setup was very easy. I don't know how it compares to more expensive mesh Wi-Fi, but I can't complain about this set.
WPA2 + CCMP (AES) by default for Both Networks
I was concerned about the security at the beginning, since it claims to support both WPA and WPA2 and there's no relevant settings in the control App, and I guessed it was in WPA/WPA2 mixed mode, which was unsecured. However, I confirmed that it runs WPA2 + CCMP (AES) using some Wifi analysis tool, at least with the latest firmware.
It just works
I was having problems connecting my verizon router with other more expensive mesh networks. I plugged this one in and it just worked.
