A fast and bright wide-angle prime, the Leica L-mount Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens from Venus Optics is a rectilinear lens with a sophisticated optical design to effectively limit distortion. The bright f/2 maximum aperture makes this lens especially useful for astrophotography and low-light use, and when paired with the 5.9" minimum focusing distance, distinct shallow depth of field imagery can also be produced. The optical construction includes three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements to control both chromatic and spherical aberrations for greater sharpness, clarity, and reduced color fringing. A Frog Eye Coating has been applied, too, to repel dust and moisture from the front element of the lens to benefit working in trying environmental conditions. Additionally, the manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture changes to suit video applications, and the front of the lens is threaded to accept 72mm screw-in filters.

Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 Zero-D Overview
By B&H Photo's
Ultra wide-angle prime designed for full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, this 15mm f/2 can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 22.5mm equivalent focal length.
Relatively fast f/2 maximum aperture benefits astrophotography and low-light shooting applications.
Rectilinear design renders subjects with minimal distortion in order to suit landscape and architectural applications.
Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for increased clarity and color neutrality. Two aspherical elements are also featured to limit spherical aberrations for improved sharpness.
A Frog Eye Coating has been applied to repel both dust and moisture for added protection when working in inclement conditions.
Manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 5.9" away with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.
The manual aperture ring can be mechanically 'de-clicked' for smooth, silent rotation throughout the aperture range; making it ideal for video applications.
Five straight diaphragm blades are used to render crisp 10-point sun-stars when photographing point light sources with smaller aperture sizes.
Despite its ultra-wide design, this lens can accept 72mm screw-in filters on the front of the lens.

hard to tell from the pictures, is the front of the lens flat so you can mount uv/vnd filters, etc?
Yes, you can put a UV in front of the lens with no problem. Maybe you have a bit of vignette depending on the thickness of the filter.

looking for 15-16mm f2.8 low profile manual lens for S5iiX. Seems shooting car mount S5iiX @4k60 @1.5x crop, this lens= 22.5mm?
Yes, that is correct. Using the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens for Leica L on the Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX Mirrorless Camera while shooting 4k 60 will crop the lens making it a 22.5mm lens.

I am considering this lens for real estate videography, I also saw that there is the Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 and other lenses from other brands. I would like a lens that has no distortion at all and is of good quality. Which of the two do you recommend?
Thank you
The Laowa is sharp and has very little distortion, that is a great choice for RE photography.

How controlled is barrel distortion on this lens? I’m interested in it for architectural interiors but hesitant because some Astro lenses don’t put tech into controlling BD. Has anyone tested this lens shooting arch?
The distortion is minimal on this lens from what we have seen. It would be a fine choice for shooting architecture.
