Ricoh GR IIIx Reviews
Wonderful Camera, but....
It is a wonderful camera, small, light, great photos.....but I do miss a viewfinder especially when it is very bright outside.
meets expectations
A lot's been written about this camera, and I don't have much new to add. I've had it a few weeks only, but I've found that the resolution is as described, i.e. very good, comparable to Fuji x-series cameras. High ISO performance (I've only used up to 6400) is excellent. Lightroom quickly recognized the DNG files. In Lightroom, the lens profile is not automatically enabled for raw files, so this has to be done individually as you edit the images. The pinpoint focus window is quite small, so you must search for an area of sufficient contrast to get accurate focus. I use the larger central window now most of the time. Not interested in snap focus. Facial recognition focusing is very good. Overall I believe this is an excellent camera. Superb performance in a very small package. Nothing really comparable on the market as far as I know.
BH Great, super camera
First, B&H delivered the camera 7 days before the estimated delivery date - really unheard of performance. Camera is first rate. Clear beautiful images. Reasonably intuitive but the manual is important. Well built.
Reimagining my photography interest
I took a chance and purchased the Ricoh GR iiix urban hoping to regenerize my interest in photography. I'm still getting used to the menu's and settings. So far, so good. Love the fast startup, snap focus and one hand shooting, but still deciding on my final set up and/or goto presets. And, even though it's early, I'm pretty darn excited about where this camera will take me.
Great Images
No, it doesn't have an EVF, but neither does your iPhone. No, it doesn't have a tilting LCD screen, but neither does your iPhone. So, it's basically an iPhone on steroids that you can put in your pocket. But it's a real camera that takes great, sharp images. Your iPhone takes good photos within the physical constraints of its camera capabilities. If you're satisfied with those images, you don't need a Ricoh GRiii/GRiiix. But if you want high resolution images from the relatively huge aps-c 24 mpixel sensor with complete control over the shooting mode, then you should get this fantastic camera.
Outstanding Small Camera
Easy to use, very crisp images, informative screen.
Best Street Camera
I wish they could have more supply! Heads down for the best street camera
So much power in a small package!
After much research, I decided to purchase the GR IIIx in order to have a very capable yet discreet and compact camera for street photography. I am still learning how to use its many functions, but I have already put it to the test and love the results. The control buttons are small but easy to use. There are multiple focusing and metering options, and so many more technical choices in the menus. Resolution is fantastic. I suspect my love for this camera to grow even more as I explore all its capabilities.
