Windows 11
Microsoft simplified the design and user experience with Windows 11. It has a modern, clean design with a new Start Menu position. Snap Layouts, Groups, and Desktops allow you to multitask with ease. Microsoft has also integrated some of their apps, such as Microsoft Teams. The redesigned Microsoft Store makes it easier to look for supported apps.
A New Start Position
Windows 11 has been completely redesigned from its predecessor to emphasize productivity, creativity, and ease of use. The customizable Start Menu is now at the center of the taskbar and utilizes the cloud, allowing you to quickly find and access recent files, regardless of what platform or device was previously used to view them. The streamlined Start Menu design also lets you pin apps and recent files in addition to powering down the system.
Making Productivity a Snap
Multitask with speed and efficiency with the ability to snap apps side-by-side. Snap Layouts and Snap Groups help to keep your windows organized using different layouts that are designed to fully optimize your screen space, no matter its size and resolution. Windows 11 also remembers their positions, so you can resume from where you left off when selecting Snap Groups from the task bar, allowing you to switch between both individual applications and entire projects. Snap Layouts are also automatically restored when docking laptops with external monitors.
Microsoft Teams Integration
Stay connected with friends, family, co-workers, and clients with Microsoft Teams Chat integrated onto the Windows 11 taskbar. With a touch, you can connect to your contacts via text, voice, and video, regardless of whether they're using Windows, Android, or iOS devices. You can also communicate with those who don't have the Teams app installed using two-way SMS messaging.
Next Level Gaming
Windows 11 is designed to deliver smooth, immersive gaming experiences with DirectX 12 Ultimate providing realistic graphics at high frame rates while Auto HDR automatically adjusts your game's lighting and contrast for high-dynamic range. DirectStorage technology streamlines data access to better take advantage of high-speed devices such as NVMe solid-state drives and directly from graphics cards without dragging down the CPU, which minimizes load times while helping to reduce artifacts such as texture popping. Topping it all off is Xbox Games Pass integration, which provides you with access to a massive library of games with a membership subscription.
Redesigned Microsoft Store
The Microsoft Store is rebuilt from the ground up for a streamlined experience when looking for content such as apps, games, movies, and shows. Apps downloaded from the Store have been tested for security and family safety. Android apps will also be available on the Microsoft Store through the Amazon Appstore and can be used directly on your PC from the taskbar or Start Menu.

Microsoft Laptop Studio 14.4" Reviews

Couldn't Be Happier

First off, I would like to admit that I am totally average user with no real technical skills or expertise. I had great luck with a Surface Pro 2 for 8 years before it died. I did some research on my own, decided on a Surface Laptop Studio and tried to order from Microsoft. That unit never got delivered so I did what I should have done from the beginning-- went directly to B&H. Jonathan from B&H helped me find the machine that I actually needed (not the one I thought that I wanted), it got delivered in two working days and now I have a laptop that is by far the best machine I have ever used. I couldn't be happier. Read the other reviews-- yes, it's slightly heavier than it should be for it's size. But it's still way lighter than any other laptops I have owned. The screen is amazing, the keyboard is accurate and comfortable and this laptop feels great for work. I am not a gamer, I work mostly in cloud based applications and I only use spreadsheets and pretty simple operations. I love the folding screen, I love the feel of the hardware and the touchpad works exactly as I would expect it to. Five stars all the way and I will only shop at B&H ever again. I don't know why I started elsewhere. Did I mention that B&H saved me about $1000? That was just the icing on the cake. I would have paid much for this computer and for the service I received. The piece of mind and getting back to work is near priceless.

I bought the surface studio mainly for programming and light gaming. It has an amazing display and design. The only Problem I have with it is it's battery life, lasts a little less than the 12 hours Microsoft claims it could run. Still would recommend

Much more than I had hoped for

For the applications that I use, the speed seems to be 4 times better than the Surface Book 2, and a little faster than my Surface Studio. I am using this at home to replace the Surface Studio, and can easily take it with me whenever I leave. So, I am very pleased with this upgrade. This is my eighth Surface, I've discovered that when a computer breaks, Microsoft will replace but not repair. I really wish they would change that policy. For me, replacement is not a useful option.

Upgraded from a Surface Book 2. Here is my comparison.

Here are some of my thoughts from upgrading from my Surface Book 2 13 to the Surface Laptop Studio. 1. This Laptop Studio is much, much heavier than the Surface Book 2. This was the biggest surprise to me. 2. High quality build with same great exterior materials. 3. The stylus and screen interface is much smoother and much more responsive. However, I don't love the new flat pen design. I do like that it attaches much better to the underside and doesn't fall off like the old pen on the Surface Book 2. However, it only attaches well in one direction. If you attach the pen upside down (which is easy to do) it will fall off. 4. I find the folding screen not all that useful. I prefered the detachable screen on my old computer which made for a much lighter tablet experience. I'm not sure why Microsoft didn't make the angle adjustable. In my opinion that would have been one of the biggest advantages of this design. As is, you get laptop position, a half-way-between display angle that doesn't have much use (it is even a bad angle for watching movies and videos), and full flat tablet-like position. This was a missed design opportunity most who use tablets for markups usually have it set at a slight angle rather than flat or at a 45. I do have concerns about the hinge being a piece of glued-on fabric and how well it will hold up long-term. I liked the Surface Book 2 hinge design much, much better. 5. Keyboard is excellent. I didn't think I would like it better than the Surface Book, but I like typing on it a lot better. 6. Track pad is great. 7. Two USB C ports are all you get. Nothing else. This is very, very limiting. Even apple brought back more ports on their newest laptop. Now I get to carry a bag of adapters everywhere I go. Wireless usb mouse? Nope. Hook up USB A home printer? Nope. I'm not sure what they were thinking as this is a much larger heavier laptop and I'm sure they had plenty of room for a couple more ports. 8. Screen is top-notch. Colors are vibrant, resolution is high, refresh rate is excellent. 9. Camera is a noticeable upgrade. 10. Overall styling I think is a downgrade. Looks like my Acer laptop from six years ago, or my kids old school-issued macbook. The thick two-tier bottom portion is just weird and awkward. The only plus is that it does hold and hide the pen well.

Stopped working a month after warranty expired

I really enjoyed this computer when it worked. But just a month after the warranty expired it stopped working for no apparent reason. After updating drivers and reinstalling windows it still didn't work. Microsoft support said it was a hardware issue. This computer is not worth the money if it's going to completely fail right after the warranty expires. Also, the charger stopped working in a few months and i had to replace it

I don't like it

Touchpads on Windows laptops have improved a thousand percent but are still not the sheer joy of the Macbook touchpads. The resolution is still not enough to execute tiny movements. The problem is this. You move the pointer very close to a target that you want to click, but not quite there. You're very close. You just need to move it a little more. You move your finger a tiny bit, but the cursor doesn't move! I can take my finger and move it back and forth by tiny amounts and the cursor doesn't move a tall. If I move my finger too much, I'll overshoot the target and that drives me crazy. I bought this laptop almost in an emergency situation but I would return it today if I could. The touchpad is useless for actual work. It's OK for browsing the internet but it's still aggravating to use. Battery life is of course terrible. For actual work, I might get 3 hours of battery life. For anything else, I might get 4.

As I understand this is not the surface pc that the screen is the computer and it does not come with the slim pen 2 or the keyboard. That keyboard can be separated by magnetism and has a fingerprint option on the pad. This is the Surface laptop studio, which won't break from the keyboard, so it's included.

I personally have used the hinge on the Microsoft 14.4" Multi-Touch Surface Laptop Studio (Platinum) and it seems quite robust. I believe with care the Microsoft 14.4" Multi-Touch Surface Laptop Studio (Platinum) should have no problem lasting a couple of years.
