I don't like it

Touchpads on Windows laptops have improved a thousand percent but are still not the sheer joy of the Macbook touchpads. The resolution is still not enough to execute tiny movements. The problem is this. You move the pointer very close to a target that you want to click, but not quite there. You're very close. You just need to move it a little more. You move your finger a tiny bit, but the cursor doesn't move! I can take my finger and move it back and forth by tiny amounts and the cursor doesn't move a tall. If I move my finger too much, I'll overshoot the target and that drives me crazy. I bought this laptop almost in an emergency situation but I would return it today if I could. The touchpad is useless for actual work. It's OK for browsing the internet but it's still aggravating to use. Battery life is of course terrible. For actual work, I might get 3 hours of battery life. For anything else, I might get 4.
Much more than I had hoped for

For the applications that I use, the speed seems to be 4 times better than the Surface Book 2, and a little faster than my Surface Studio. I am using this at home to replace the Surface Studio, and can easily take it with me whenever I leave. So, I am very pleased with this upgrade.
This is my eighth Surface, I've discovered that when a computer breaks, Microsoft will replace but not repair. I really wish they would change that policy. For me, replacement is not a useful option.
Upgraded from a Surface Book 2. Here is my comparison.

Here are some of my thoughts from upgrading from my Surface Book 2 13 to the Surface Laptop Studio.
1. This Laptop Studio is much, much heavier than the Surface Book 2. This was the biggest surprise to me.
2. High quality build with same great exterior materials.
3. The stylus and screen interface is much smoother and much more responsive. However, I don't love the new flat pen design. I do like that it attaches much better to the underside and doesn't fall off like the old pen on the Surface Book 2. However, it only attaches well in one direction. If you attach the pen upside down (which is easy to do) it will fall off.
4. I find the folding screen not all that useful. I prefered the detachable screen on my old computer which made for a much lighter tablet experience. I'm not sure why Microsoft didn't make the angle adjustable. In my opinion that would have been one of the biggest advantages of this design. As is, you get laptop position, a half-way-between display angle that doesn't have much use (it is even a bad angle for watching movies and videos), and full flat tablet-like position. This was a missed design opportunity most who use tablets for markups usually have it set at a slight angle rather than flat or at a 45. I do have concerns about the hinge being a piece of glued-on fabric and how well it will hold up long-term. I liked the Surface Book 2 hinge design much, much better.
5. Keyboard is excellent. I didn't think I would like it better than the Surface Book, but I like typing on it a lot better.
6. Track pad is great.
7. Two USB C ports are all you get. Nothing else. This is very, very limiting. Even apple brought back more ports on their newest laptop. Now I get to carry a bag of adapters everywhere I go. Wireless usb mouse? Nope. Hook up USB A home printer? Nope. I'm not sure what they were thinking as this is a much larger heavier laptop and I'm sure they had plenty of room for a couple more ports.
8. Screen is top-notch. Colors are vibrant, resolution is high, refresh rate is excellent.
9. Camera is a noticeable upgrade.
10. Overall styling I think is a downgrade. Looks like my Acer laptop from six years ago, or my kids old school-issued macbook. The thick two-tier bottom portion is just weird and awkward. The only plus is that it does hold and hide the pen well.

I bought the surface studio mainly for programming and light gaming. It has an amazing display and design. The only Problem I have with it is it's battery life, lasts a little less than the 12 hours Microsoft claims it could run. Still would recommend
